Default 6 month computer cleaning schedule? - 09-20-2012, 20:17 | posts: 462 | Location: michigan

Sent my 570HD back to EVGA for my step up program. First time I opened my case in 6 months. Thought I'd take some pics of the dust in my system.

I smoked a cig while contemplating what needed cleaning after not looking in it for 6 months. After 5 minutes I got bored and just put it back together, maybe I'll clean it next year.

As some of you know, I'm one of the few that run a pressurized hepa filter setup, 1 inlet where a 120mm fan should be on the back of the case, only fan in the case is on the 570hd pictured.

Computer itself has a Holmes hepa filter for it, ducted into the back. Sits off to the side, It handles the cooling for the whole computer. Hot air is exhausted out the back of the computer via the PS, little out of the back of the card, and 3 slots I left open under the card. That blows into a small space that has a air pick up with a 140mm Nocuta that exhaust into the attic for summer use.

Cooling has always been good with this setup. When I first put this one together, had some question the use of a hepa to cool the system, if it was worth it or not. Pretty much just showing a 6 month update on the build showing the hepa was a good choice for no case or cpu fans, and no dust.

All the vents on the case are closed off forcing the air out the back, but air will escape from any hole on the case still, front usb ports, dvd drive, card reader as pictured.
