Looking to buy a not too expensive physx card that will take the load off my GTX 670 in Borderlands 2 with physx on high setting, can anyone recommend a cost effective physx card to pair with it? thanks

My gtx670 only shows like 70% use When I play at 1920x1200. I agree that you probably don't need one.

well i added a 640 for physx and whilst it does run on the whole nicely there are occasional dips to 40 or so with vsync on 4xaa etc @1920x1200.
i might try different drivers tomorrow. it definately is doing something as my mafia 2 fps were 38 with just the 580 and with the 640 54 fps.
not bad but as there is no bench for bl2 it's hard for me to tell the benefit atm. will play tomorrow without the 640 on high and get a feel for it...
p.s am gonna send my 640 back but that's only cos the fan is doing my head in a bit. yep it's on lowest setting.
you could get a low profile physx card but then again not powerfull enough perhaps. been reading around and it seems cuda cores are important and not to put 2 weak a physx gpu with your main gpu.
then again some peeps say something like a 460 is a good choice. something about the 4 series architecture.....

I'm using a GTX460 1gig with my current 7970s and its working quite well. With a single 7970 and the 460 i get about 50% GPU usage on the 7970 and the 460 bounces between 5% and about 40% in 1920x1200 with everything maxed and it stays dead on 60fps.

nice not managed that with my current setup re bl2. will play for ages fine 60fps then bang i'll start to see 40fps...
either optimisation/driver or I am not sure. I should have enough Gpu power @1920x1200 with the 640 as physx to cap 60fps...
gonna try latest betas and re-install physx.
just out of interest Shag what's your Mafia2 bench like? (that's if you have it ofc).

Fwiw, the reviewers at GeForce had access to the benchmark and said on high the 660ti kept 60fps, so the 670 should be fine.
That said, I have an old 8800 I want to try if I ever dip below 60, but that hasn't happened yet.

I get 90fps with everything maxed in 1920x1200 with PhysX off.
Sorry for the delay, had to download the game.
Pretty sure that's a worse result than my old SLI460s let alone the 580s i had lol.
At least I get PhysX on an AMD system though
Edit: I ran it again and in the intensive scenes the 7970 load drops right off, in some spots down to 30odd%... Probably just crappy hacked hybrid PhysX
Edit2: Actually im dead certain it ran faaaar better on the Nvidia cards as I remember I played in 3D with dual 460s and a 450 with everything maxed and it ran perfectly.

was interested shag in your score with physx on high i.e the 7970's with the 460...
just managed 75fps with the 640 as physx. n bad considering my 580 runs the bench at around 40 with physx high. (maybe that was fluke will re-run it).
