Default Infrequent fps drop on 560Ti - 09-18-2012, 16:30 | posts: 1

Hi

This is odd one and not game specific. I first noticed this playing Diablo 3 then confirmed the problem with Skyrim. Now first vsync isnt the problem, this info is without vsync. Most of time i get around 100 fps on Diablo 3 with max settings (vsync keeps it at 60), However on odd occasions this will drop to around 33 fps and will remain as such until the PC is restarted and then its ok.
At first i thought it might have been a windows gagdet but that is gone, however it show when at 100fps the GPU was at 50% where as at 33 fps the GPU was maxed.
So there seems to be a glitch and iv even done a virus and spyware scan and nothing showed.

Now its doesnt seem serious as restarting fixes it, but its bugging the hell out of me that i cant work it out.

PS, one more thing heat was not a problem, the gpu going about 50c when playing diablo 3.

Have you tried in Nvidia control panel -> Manage 3D settings, set the Power management setting to Prefer Maximum Performance?

the first thing i did when i started getting errors is i used a program called driver fusion, its the same company that made driver sweeper and i completely uninstall the drivers than boot into safe mode clean all the drivers out then restart and install drivers again somehow one of the nvidia driver dlls stopped working somehow and doing that fixed it somehow.

other than that i dont know
1) is your card overclocked?
2) what driver version are you using?
3) does it only happen in 1 game or all games?
4) did the issue start after you installed a certain program?
5) could there be any conflicting drivers or programs?
