Man I'm so careless - Speeding Tickets... -
09-16-2012, 09:31
| posts: 5,700 | Location: Dubai, UAE / London, UK
Over the period of approximately 6 months I've gotten over 10 speeding fines totalling over $3000.
In the last 2 months itself I've received almost $1000 of speeding fines...
I've no one to blame but myself & need to start learing from my mistakes...
Any other fellow guru racked up large speeding fines?
Man I need to stay within the speed limits as a large chunk of my salary is going to Dubai police on a monthly basis.
I've been told that I should transfer my salary straight to Dubai Police, lol...
The following fines are over a 5 month period and is almost $1000.

You would be banned from driving by now in the UK that would save you loads of money.
Looks like you don't learn from your mistakes perhaps the death of an innocent child on your conscience or placing yourself in a wheelchair may do the trick aye?

My last ticket was for doing 140km/h, which ended up resulting in $700 and the loss of my license for 30 days.
I had a good excuse though, I was on holiday up north approaching a city at dark I was not familiar with, which is probably why I never lost my car. I hate driving around unfamiliar places at dark. It's daunting.

Just to let you know you might also be gathering some "black points" here, which is bad. The chief of police once said here "Keep speeding! All you are doing is buying more speeding camera`s for Dubai!" lol
We have some of the wrolds most advanced speeding camera's, but on top of that we still have police using hand held speeding cameras which are hard to spot. On Hessa street near T COM there is a new camera, it has like 8 cameras in one I think and its 360degrees.
Speed has always been an issue in my country, but it's less of us locals doing it now and more expats. It's very interesting, there are some "roads" out there for some good street racing, but if I tell you where... I`ll have to kill you

Correct, I would've been banned a long time back if I was driving in the UK.
As for not learning from my mistakes, I need to learn from them, even though it's late!
As for the death of an innocent child, very unlikely as I only speed on the motorway. I will however slow down as it's not worth blowing my money on...
What is the point to work hard 9 hours 5 days a week just to pay speeding tickets? Totally not worth it...

Haha, definately not Wasl Road or Beach Road where the limit is just 80 km/h!
The chief of police is correct. Speeding drivers only give more money to the police which then enables them to invest more money on cameras...
From today I'll be sticking to the speed limit & inshallah no more tickets!
They ALWAYS seem to send you an sms of your fine FIRST thing in the morning to piss you off even more...
I've got more sms messages from Dubai Police than ANYONE else...

Well at least he see's it hurts the pocket and is going to stop speeding. Who know's maybe you have even prevented a future accident due to speeding?
Now I am by all means not one to point fingers, when I was younger and at uni I got a DUI in california. Sucked. that was about 8 years ago.
Now I drive safe and sober at ALL times. When your young you make mistakes no excuse for a DUI though. I was speeding, was not drunk, but over the limit by a point they said. I paid the price.
Ah well that said, its great to hear you'll stop speeding

Pfftt, you think that's bad.
Besides all the speedcams and regular cops on the side of the road with lasers and radars, the cops have a new trick in which they took camo suits from the army (think Ghillie) and lie on the side of the road and catch the speeders.

No fines here, been driving for 4years 0 fines, in spain radars are usually 10-20 km/h on top of the legal speed, plus where i drive there are no radars, only human control (maybe a few movile radars), anyways i only go 60-70km/h in 50km/h zones and +20 or 30Km/h of higher speed zones.
Only time police stopped me, they just left and starting running behind a ferrari, they told me it was my lucky day (altho i wasnt in any illegal situation i think, little drunk, but i had stopped drinking 7hours ago so...).

So much speeding, i hardly ever speed and if i do +5 km/h on damn highway going 120 so i would be doing 125. 3 times over speed limit here in finland gets your license taken away iirc or just drive fast enough and first time it will be taken away.
And driving drunk even a little is most irresponsible thing ever done :o

Finland isn't in Scandinavia...
But yes they're strict here, and the limits are very low. But I've never been caught, and I often go a little over the limit if the conditions are good (in non-populated areas, mind. I'm not a reckless moron). It's all about being a little smart.
From you've been saying on here about maxing out your Merc, and by looking at all those tickets, it sounds like you don't deserve having a licence at all. People like you shouldn't be driving. Don't you have lots of tracks and stuff down there where you can take out all your need for speed?

My speeding is now restricted to when I have blue lights and two-tones on! I also drive in accordance with my training.
Our roads are now rammed with vehicles and it's simply not worth the risk when you have your family in the car.
I see so many fatal or serious life altering accidents, for instance just this last week I was removing pieces of scalp from the inside of a car that had failed to make even the smallest impression on the very large tree it had hit!
