The pricing for the new iPhone 5 here in the U.K. starts at £529 for the 16 GB model up to £699 for the 64 GB one. That really is obnoxious IMO but then Apple knows that their many fans will lap them up no matter how much they cost. I've never really liked Apple products personally; they seem to favour style over actual substance and the pricing is ridiculous. Why pay their prices when you get something as good or better for a lot less?

HA! so glad I got my Samsung Galaxy S3 then this looks like absolute crap. The phone itself for instance is far too big. The screen looks tiny with those massive black bezel borders on the top and the bottom. Easily could of made the screen bigger or the form factor smaller. Plus its Apple, I am not an Apple hater just hate their OS, it will come preloaded with crapware and it will be heavily locked down. Unlike Android that is more or less completely open and easy to mod/hack for some amazing results.
Iphone 5 = PASS
Plus the recently announced SGN2 completely destroys this in literally every way.

As a recent iPhone to Android convert I really don't understand what the fuss is about. The OS is easily a push, one does some things better, the other does other things better. The customization isn't really anything to write home about either, I have yet to see a customization that I might want to do that I couldn't do on a jailbroken iPhone.

Well, we don't know anything about the SoC at this point but I'm curious to read more about it once that information hits.
Personally I doubt it's an A15 design as some speculate. It might be, certainly, though that would be a surprisingly aggressive design cycle.
Given that the A5 was based on two 800MHz A9 cores this could well be an 1.5-1.7GHz A9 design and/or improved memory bandwidth. Those aren't too uncommon in already popular SoCs.

I've been thinking about ditching my old Motorola RAZR mobile for a smartphone just for the convenience of having a browser and camera even though my phone is really used more for emergencies than anything else. My current mobile doesn't even support apps so I cannot use things like Blizzard's free authenticator. I see the Samsung Galaxy S3 mentioned a lot and it looks like a nice phone but I no idea about them at all.
Sorry to sound like a complete n00b but can you use a mobile's online features with a PS Vita which I currently cannot access the internet with outside the home?

Yes you can, you need to enable Wifi tethering but you won't be able to game on the Vita because of the high latency.
And you carrier might charge you for tethering btw. You should read up on their policies. I personally used the tethering on my iPhone using a jailbraek hack and so far have no had any issue and all I did was browse the web. But if you download a lot using cellular then expect notices from your carrier.

bought a 4s cos i really liked it, will NOT be buying the 5, sorry Apple, same old same old, also congrats on shooting yourselves in the foot by making consumers have to have your new sim card, wonder how many phone companies will be offering a 5 with a contract deal if they have to pay you twice. errrm probably none.

Pretty poor to be fair, after apple's recent sueing spree they have lost my respect, I hope andriod takes all the market share off them as its a far better OS and the phones that support it are better.

All their SoC have been weak compared to similar from Samsung so far. Not expecting it to be any different now underclocked and whatnot.
Well same specs for camera as before just faster taking pics attainable by software update.

While waiting for my ISP to activate my line I tethered my phone to my PC using HSDPA (H) and my latency was <100ms on most games/ speed tests (and thats with very weak H that I only get when leaning my phone against my window)
Online games (ones I play anyway) seem to use hardly any actual data up or down, I had a data monitor on constantly to make sure my provider stayed off my back, so you should be able to play a fair bit without them clocking on to the fact you are tethering

All iPhones here in the states come with a new sim anyways and they activate the phone in apple store or if you buy it directly from at&t, verison, or sprint. Not sure how it's done anywhere else though.

Hardware without proper software is just a waste. Even with so many cores and GHz, galaxy S3 isn't as fluid as an Windows Phone 7 / iPhone (even with all widgets turned off). I don't get why all Android guys pay so much importance to hardware and don't care about software...

to be honest , android is way overrated ! the OSLO is so unstable. look at the power of the last generation android devices, compared to speed and performance. they stutter lag . and my galaxy S3 even freeze.
so they both have a lot to work on but currently for me as a gamer apple will win my vote. I have had it with the lackluster android market and it's ****ty unstable apps.

they say the new iphone is using A15 cores, sure they are underclocked like they did with the 4s so expect it to match current A9 1.5ghz+ beast at least
