memory compatibility -

hi guys, I just bought kingston hyperx t1 1600 mhz memory.
it´s a triple channel 3x4 gb kit.
but the system I´m building is z77 based dual channel config.
will i have any problem with only two sticks (2x4 gb) working in dual channel (sold the one extra stick to a friend) ?
I always thought all memory (dual, triple and quad channel) is all the same, it´s just sold in different packages... but just to make sure I have to ask

You'll be fine...although I'd have looked around and purchased another matching 4GB stick and go with the 16GB instead of 8GB.

Be careful with the X58 stuff, it's mostly designed to run at 1.65 V, which SB/IB can't stand IIRC.

1.65v is way overrated, HyperX only needs 1.5v.

1.65 rated voltage on a z77 is aok dont worry.
I ran tri kit hypers on a z77 mb np.
As said if you can lower the voltage(which you should be able to)do it if not its ok too.

1.65v is on the high end of the voltage spectrum. you should have no problem, but I would try lowering it to 1.58v-1.60v if the ram allows

T1 have tall heatspreaders and are meant to be higher end than Genesis, but I don't know how since they both have the same specs...

You will not see any difference going from 1600 to whatever your sticks can do and it has no impact on overclocking the CPU.

nah not really ran my ram at 2133 for a couple months couldnt get it 100% stable. like 99.9% stable but that aint good enough for me. set it back to 1600 100% stable

Copy the timings from my CPU-Z screenshot if you like, but 1600Mhz is plenty.
I only have mine overclocked because I can, not because it will noticeably improve performance. lol
