Default MSI AB issue with Dxtory & Mirillis Action - 07-25-2012, 20:59 | posts: 7 | Location: Earth

Hello all,
I record gameplay with Dxotory/Mirillis Action and use MSI AB to display the overlays in recorded games.
However, the overlays can't be recorded with the gameplay unless I check the "Enable compatibility with modified Direct3D runtime libraries" in RivaTuner (White aeroplane with purple 60fps icon). And this causes problems for some games when I try to launch them. I.e Max Payne 3 crashes when I try to start it, Crysis 2 works fine.

But FRAPS can record the MSI AB's overlays even if I uncheck the "Enable compatibility with modified Direct3D runtime libraries" in RivaTuner.

If MSI AB developers are reading this plz fix this issue a.s.a.p plz.

People really keep amazing me. Fix it ASAP? Probably you should put such demands in dxtory/mirillis forums instead?

I will just post what I said in another thread about these kinds of asinine statements:

If you don't like the codec that is used there are plenty of other options for recording. The application is free and you can choose to use it. Msi AB is a overclocking utility that unwinder added recording support for, that is not its primary role. You can suggest he add it, but he is not going to pull his hair out trying to modify code to suit everyone, it would be a endless job (for a free end user app).

I think you misunderstood me. I don't use MSI AB to record. I use it to display the overlay. Now that overlay for some reason refuses to be recorded in Dxtory/Mirillis Action unless "Enable compatibility with modified Direct3D runtime libraries" in RivaTuner is ticked. But that prevents some games like Max Payne 3 etc from opening. In my case crashing Max Payne 3 it as I try to open it. Took me alot of time to figure out what caused the crash too.

Now if he fixes it then it'll be much appreciated. Take your time. No need to hurry. (If you are offended by the a.s.a.p)

I did not mean to come off as rude, but you are talking about fixing something that can't be "fixed". There are to many variables there, you using multiple programs in game and the game itself. Too many conflicts, I just go by the "KISS" method.
