Default Suddenly GigaBase.ru search engine by default? - 07-23-2012, 01:49 | posts: 6,146 | Location: Portland, Oregon

So I was searching Photoshop questions/help in google, then moments later I keep getting redirected to Gigabase.ru as my default search engine when using the search box in the top right of the window. Thought it was just Opera going retarded, but it happens in Internet Explorer too. In Internet Explorer I can't even remove it from the listing. I can still go to google.com though.

Already tried clearing cookies and cache. Nothing looks out of place, so don't think it's malware or a hijack.
Should be an easy fix, but I not that knowledgeable when it comes to networking.

Pat myself on the back. I figured it out myself.

If anyone has this kind of problem:
- enable hidden folders in folder options.
- Go to the folder located below. Of course your user name will be different.
- Open document named "search"
- edit the gigabase.ru address to google.com
- save and exit

I'm guessing this problem is going around? Did it just happen to you too and were you using Opera also?

If anyone has this problem on Mozilla, here is the fix. This was dated two weeks ago.
