Exclamation Help with Watercooling please.. - 07-16-2012, 15:29 | posts: 3,365 | Location: somewhere behind the Milky Way

hy all,

a friend bought a watercooling system and i helped him get all the right things etc etc..
Now, i need some little help with the way i put teh watercooling in there..im a noob a little when it comes to watercooling..

anyway..i need to know where i best put all the stuff liek radiator, pump, etc..also i need to know wich direction the water stream needs to go..i mean like, from pump to rad to cpu etc etc..the flow way..

ok, heres a list of teh stuff we have here:

Quote:
EK-CoolStream RAD XT (240) (Radiator) - € 51.95
EK-DCP 4.0 (12V DC Pump) (Pumpe) - € 44.95
EK-Multioption reservoir 250 (wasserspeicher) - € 34.96
EK-Supreme LTX - Acetal+EN (Nickel) (CPU Block) - € 41.95
EK-LGA115x TRUE Backplate (RückPLatte) - € 4.94
Arctic Cooling MX-2 thermal compound (4g) (kühlpaste) - € 4.96
EK-FAN Silent 120-1600 RPM (Lüfter noch leise) - € 5.95 x2
TUBE Clearflex 13/19 (schlauch) - € 5.26
EK-PSC Fitting 13mm - G1/4 Black (fittings) - € 5.50 x8
ok, heres The Tower we have:

And here are some Pics from , well testing it , but im shure its wrong and u could do it better..someone sayd we need shorter tubes, the ways are to long and also less curvers etc..

i really need some good help here from u guru guys...
i want that he can use his system by end of the week so he doesnt have to whait any longer..cause someone who sayd hes gonna help, jumped the boat for rather stupid reasons..anyway. ill count on u my Gurus

Once you decided to get deposit outside case, you can put there even moore components.
You can put the pump just straight down the reservoir. That will save you a lot of centimeters of tubing.
Once you got the pump there, use the holes you have in your case to get the tube in to the cpu heatchanger and from it,with the other case hole,to the radiator.
From the radiator get again to the base of deposit et voila...a old school styled watercooling .
Another solution, easier at myu eryes is to get a big tower as a bitfenix XL.it is big ehough to get all inside.
Anyway all you need in watercooling are three things. One thing is patience, second thing is moore patience and thir thiong is much moore patience.
Good luck with your system

I think a bigger case would solve most of your problems. It would become instantly clear where to mount that 240 radiator among other things and it could all fit inside.

Just my 2cents

Very good for a first effort

hmmm..
ok, so u all say we need a bigger tower?
I saw a lot of watercooling videos with the tower we have here..so i know it fits..its just i dont know where to put the stuff..where should i place the RAD, where teh Pump, etc...

u guys also can use the PIC without teh watercooling and use paiont to mark where u would put it. so i have an idea of how its supposed to be..

THX guys..

Rad on top and in the back is fine.
You could use stand offs at the top.
You can also turn the fittings towards the case for shorter way of tubing, but might need to make some holes for that.
Pump at the lowest point in the case is usual a good idea.
As for connecting the components, you could let the flow go like: res - pump - cpu - rad1 - gpu - rad2 - and into res.
Make your tubes as short as possible and avoid hard bends, you don't want the tubing to be flat.
Res should be as high up as possible, makes it easy to get ridd of air pockets.
Do you have any intake fan on the side panel?

EDIT: Sorry, just saw the pictures on my desktop and notices that the res is on the back and not a second rad.
I did read and reply on my cellphone, so the images where rather small.
res > pump > cpu > gpu > rad > back into res will work fine, some might argue about having the res in front or back at the pump, but it's really not a game breaker.

You can also look a bit at this thread to see how others did set it up in medium sized towers: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=355588

I would also get some of that wiring moved out of the way, is ther eplace to let cables run between the mobo tray and the side panel?

There are also a lot of detailed guides for H2O cooling, but I guess you already googled them up.

As for the EK-DCP 4.0, doesn't it vibrate like crazy?
I had a new one some time ago, but trashed it cause of vibration.
Using a Laing DDC 10W with an EK top now, flow is a bit lower, but gives me the same low temperatures as the EK-DCP and close to no vibration.

May I direct you to this topic here

You're doing what I did, a CPU cooling loop. The case you are using doesn't look any smaller or larger than my Silverstone case and theirs loads of pics about where I stuck all the bits, everything is inside the case including the radiator.
