Well, the N64 collection isn't complete anyway, missing tony hawk's pro skater 2, one of the last games released on it.

Actually, it's missing a fair amount more of the thps games, only one it has there is 3.

I'm gonna ask you guys, politely, to please do something which you are unaccustomed to:

Think.

This man, or company, bought this from another man, or company. The money didn't disappear. It changed hands. The new recipient of the money now has the opportunity to "feed the hungry." What if he doesn't want to, well, guess what, that money is going to continue changing hands, forever and ever. Anyone who ever touches will have that opportunity to send it to Africa, or Asia, or South American, literally any country with a hungry population.

Why is it that YOU think, when someone buys something of this magnitude, that the money is just "gone" and no longer available for use?

Let me pose to you an example situation: Let's use this exact case as the base. A man wants to sell his game collection, a game collection he possibly derived great joy from collecting. He exchanged money with other people, over time, to acquire the games. That money went to feed families, run businesses, etc. He decides the collection is complete, and wants to sell it, the reason is irrelevant. He posts it for a million dollars, someone wants it, and purchases. Now, who wins? The man gets a million dollars for his collection, he is probably happy, and another man has a mostly complete video game collection from which he will probably derive joy. Ebay collects a percentage finders fee which is used to employee people, and thus, feed families.

Both parties win. No one loses. But here comes your point of contention, why spend it here, went it could feed the hungry? What if the recipient, the one who sold the collection, did so and then donated the money, or even half the money? Would you retain your anger at the purchaser for his wastefulness?

The point is this: The money isn't gone, it's simply changed hands. It's not as if an opportunity has been squandered for feeding people, the same opportunity exists, just with another person. The money will continue on its path, being spent, and eventually, portions of it WILL go to charity. In fact, over enough time, the entire million will likely end up in some charitable or productive works. You can no more express anger at someone for purchasing this, than you can at us for spending thousands on PCs when that money could have been spent feeding a child. You're judging the decision, and the way the money is spent, on one instant, one transaction..That's silly. In my example, the purchaser, seller, and charity would benefit from the money. In your ideal scenario, only the purchaser and charity would benefit. The seller would be left with a game collection he no longer wants.

Sending countries and families money doesn't fix anything. It's been tried, repeatedly. People are fed by it on a most basic level and never rise above needing to be fed. Trade, economics, building up a society, a culture, to cultivate success, this is how you feed the world. Displays like this, that a free exchange of effort, money, and desire can take place between two people, free of interference, and be just a small block in what we call "trade" or "enterprise", to the benefit of every involved party...This is what the world needs more of.

What it does not need are people who sit by, judging every transaction, not even on the merits of the people involved. You guys don't know anything about either person involved. You don't know their charitable habits, you don't know anything...And yet pass judgement. How can you not see something wrong with your way of thinking?

It's very obvious that I quoted you because you consider the idea that "He can do whatever he wants" to be nonsense.

It's very obvious that the back and forth which would begin with that argument is non-sense ... which you seem to have started

no point getting fussy about someone spending that money. money money money, its all a crazy world blah blah. This to me, looks like a rainbow amid the madness.

Money twists the value of some things, this is wonderful wacky way to spend that sum.
