Here is what they do in my old and aging Asus Rampage 3 eXtreme on the Intel ICHR10 Sata 2 controller + a few tweaks.

Samsung 830 128GB Sata 3 6.0Gb/s Speed of 520 MB/s Reads and 320 MB/s Writes per SSD , 2x on Raid0 Intel ICHR10 Raid Controller + a few tweaks =

Max Read 570Mb/s - Max Write 515Mb/s ( On Sata 3.0 6Gb/s would be double that speed ) But Im limited by the sata 2 of my aging x58 mobo. Still they pass way over Sata 2 speed standards , Intel ICHR10 still is a great Raid controller. I will unleashed its full potential on my next built , but im more than happy and impressed with the performance.
