Hi guys After searching and searching I have finally found out why I was getting the "kdbsync.exe" error at start up and also how to fix it. When installing the AMD Catalyst package 12.6 and early versions if you don't install "AMD APP SDK Runtime" you will keep getting this error at start up. So to stop getting this error just install the "AMD APP SDK Runtime". However now everytime my computer starts up I get a command prompt window pop up for like a second or or two and then it goes away. Is there anyway to stop this command prompt from popping up also? Will AMD every fix this nonsense? http://easylife-en.tk/aml-device-install-kdbsync-exe-error/
i never install the sdk runtime bloatware. to stop the popups, you need to start>run>msconfig, and turn off all the amd items except ccc or mom. it will also show you the registry location where you can delete the item. i deleted kdbsync startup when i had 12.2 installed.
How is the SDK runtime bloatware exactly? I usually install it for in the rare event I run something that can use OpenCL. Now those media codecs and etc, that is bloatware
But don't you need this for better playback of HD videos? Also do you need this for when using video converters for faster convertions? I am so confused about what I really need to instal. Also I see there is a seprate AMD Catalyst 12.6 Media Codec Package. Do I need this or is it already in the AMD Catalyst driver package?
Leave the Kbdsync stuff on. In the future its likely to be incorporated into the drivers anyway (with no way of turning it off).
For those who couldn't find kdbsync.exe in their msconfig autorun menu: -start -run -regedit -HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run -right click on kdbsync.exe -delete -ok Attempt at your own risk. Just described my way to the solution.
Worked! You nailed it! The only difference to mine was it was titled AMD AVT in the registry. Once I realized that, I remembered that is why I didn't notice it in my msconfig. I was too focused on finding just "kbdsync."
