How does the patent suit they filed have anything to do with jellybean? Everything the Nexus is infringing on in ICS is in Jellybean.

Apple just needs to stop this garbage. It's literally a litigation war with Google, with Samsung as the victim. They know they're screwed if they can't have the market locked down. Google is going to win, it's just a matter of when.

The patent they're trying to "protect" is garbage as well. It basically encompasses any sort of search heuristic engine you can possibly create.

Jellybean officially releases updates on the Nexus, Nexus S, and Zoom (while Nexus 7 is native). I'm looking it from a different perspective. Which company right now is the largest that supports android? If you take out the "Google" phone then what other phones will you have left, so its best to "release" the updates out before Apple comes out with more patent stuff. I know a lot of people surprisingly wanted Nexus just for the Jellybean update.

As patent lawsuit guru Florian Mueller found, the clincher for the ban was the patent on unified search that's linked to Siri. Although Judge Koh is inclined to believe Apple's view regarding all four patents, that search patent is the one whose violation would reportedly merit more than a slap on the wrist. She's similarly convinced that Apple's patents are legitimate and likely won't be dismissed anytime soon.
Pretty sure Apple isnt in it just trade blows with Samsung, they're also in it to trade blows with Google. Look at what they're doing, using the same judge that they did when the one the first suit and now using her again for the next one. The search patent is going to be a big one for Jellybean.

They can't keep banning their competition from sales forever. The moment competition can freely sell their products without being sued 10 seconds later, Apple's sales will sink into the gutter. They simply can't compete, they never have.

That judge is either retarded or on Apple's payroll, I'm betting on both.

Google may be snoopy and annoying, sticking their noses everywhere they can, but it would be a pretty grim situation in the mobile industry if they weren't around to fight back against patent trolls and bigwig bullies.

They probably are expecting Google to be another Microsoft in the sense they're going to do everything Apple tries to do better and take all their marketshare away. So they're resorting to patent trolling to save themselves.

I don't know, I've talked about this in the past and I'll say it again now. I don't really blame Apple for filing suits on these patents. I blame the terrible patent system in this country and the judges who enforce it. Most of the people ruling on these patents don't even understand the technology behind it. It's a large problem and it's only growing. The people running the US are so completely out of touch with technology that's causing some screwed up policy.

That's like saying don't blame the murderer, blame the gun manufacturer. Not that I disagree that the patent system is a joke, but Apple are as guilty as can be.

The patent involved is so funny... If we trust this patent, this mean all heuristic search engine, any software who allow you to search data on your mobile phone ( including image, text, web pages ) is illegal. And the patent have nothing to do with voices at start, it involve patent from 1995 and are based on text search. (patent who it seems are not owned by Apple )

Note i ask me if all the voice search and command engine who is on Samsung, HTC, BlackBerry etc since years are touched by this.

How is that even close to similar? Murdering is illegal. Filing a lawsuit to protect your patent is not. Its not even remotely similar. Apple is guilty of nothing except protecting the technology the government says is theirs.

Lets imagine this is Apple who have invent or buy all the heuristic research...
( lol ofc, yes, i really doubt the heuristic search is made by Apple )

Anysoftware who do an heuristic search is illegal, any antivirus is illegal, and any web search engine is illegal .... ofc we know this is not an Apple invention,.. so why this judge want to use it for protect Apple right ?

Look the patent, it is so funny... .. How some patent who are yet not constrin to any right and have fall in public domain ( they date from 1995 and are not propriety of Apple ( peoples tend to do forget there's a difference between create, and buy a patent ) ..

and thoses patent have been revived for use of Apple...

The comission who is leading Mrs Koh is made of 6 Judges.. 5 have vote for dont accept this motion, and the last one, Mrs Koh ( who is leading this assembly ). have again decided ( and have the right for do it ) to accept the motion.. And again as she have the last word, the motion is ofc accepted ..

Seriously, US patent system is allready one of the worst of the world... i dont even understand why when we speak about International company, this system have not been just unified ... A patent valuable in Korea is not in USA, an USA patent is not valuable in France, a patent valuable in Australia is not Valuable in China ... etc etc ..

If this search engine was notoriously illegal? why they attack Samsung ? this search engine is developped by Google ? in an OS made by Google ...

If it was the last Samsung SIII voice heuristic search who was attacked, they will attack the Samsung Galaxy SIII .. not the Nexus who have been released in Europe the last October . 8 months ago ( yeah i know, later in USA thanks to your 4G system )

Because the mere fact that the system is bad doesn't excuse abusing it.

Sure, Apple isn't doing anything illegal but this isn't about legality as much as it is about being complete douches.

Murder, to use the provided example, isn't wrong because it's illegal after all. It's wrong because it's immoral.

The problem is there again,,, from a consumer point of view, there's notthing to attack on the Nexus (released some month agao ) vs the Iphone 4S...

Again thoses patent are a pure excuse and in USA thoses parent infringement h.. But the same patent have been excluded in 3 countries ..

Kho say it is urgent, but the infringment have been made 2 years ago ..l.. she said SIRI is in cause, but SIRI was not even available ...

How this Infringment is now used for SIRI ?
