Didn't see it in the release notes but know they fixed it in the 12.6 beta. In this driver is the HDMI tv fix included?

So does this signify the end of support for Radeon HDs 4800 and lower? The release notes say they're supported, but the installer and the .infs say otherwise.

what was that clock bug that made the fans go to 100% was it in the 12.6 beta or a different one?

So far so good. Gained 4 points for max settings in Heaven gained 10 in 3dmark11 and bf3 seems smoother.

Yeah, but the release notes for 12.6 do actually say that the DX10/10.1 cards are still supported.

Seeing that we never got an official 12.5(which was supposed to be the last non-legacy driver, AMD's own statement) it likely is the 12.6 driver instead

According to the Supported Cards list above, Mobility support is included; no need for a separate Mobility set.

I can use VGA cable with this driver instead of that inferior HDMI thing!
It used to flicker when I scrolled, or watched video. Games worked fine. Perhaps 2D bug... but only on VGA cable???
Anyway, all is good now.

Thank you, this 12.6 WHQL seems very stable!

That's not quite right either.

12.4 is the last monthly driver set that includes support HD 4xxx and older, but not the last one.
A new Catalyst version with support for those 'old' cards would be around 4~6 months apart, thus the next version with HD 4xxx (and older) support would be 12.8 at the earliest.

Exactly, so there are nothing newer then 12.4 that supports the 4xxx cards and older at the moment.

I have just tried installing these on my system with Radeon 4670.
These drivers are NOT compatible as opposed to what is written in the release notes!

If any other owner of HD4000 series tries and succeeds, please post back...

We are rolling version so not all bad, but who is not constantly looking at the differences, the newly initiated will be very difficult to know which version to install.

A greeting.

I can confirm this. Tried it with my 4890.

AMD is really getting on my nerves. Why the hell do they have 4800 cards in the compatibility list if they're not really supported?

Got my hopes up for nothing

Proof that it's in the list: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles...easeNotes.aspx

OpenGL in this driver is newer than any of the 12.7 betas... Now to extract these and make a hybrid driver...

I really think that has something to do with OC. I also didn't want to believe it because my 7850 ran at 1050mhz core. But with ANY Beta Driver after 12.4 and with this 12.6 it seems to cause issues on desktop when overclocking. I don't know if it is the card (since i can't overclock any 7850 anymore without crashing) or if the drivers are the issue. It's sad because games never caused Issues with my overclocking.

OK i'm seriously confused.

I thought AMD/ATI switched to quarterly releases but these new drivers have the old numbering scheme. So did AMD reverse itself and are now doing monthly releases?

no, they just stopped monthly WHQL releases.

They will have many beta releases with the same numbering scheme as beofre, just no WHQL until they feel the betas are solid enough...

Legacy products (HD4000 and older) have moved to quarterly releases

The legacy drivers for the HD2000-HD4000 were meant to have a quarterly release

The normal drivers have no set dates. They will still be numbered after the months they are released in, just like it was before.
It seems that the Beta drivers are monthly though
