Default 200mm fan suggestions for 650D side panel mod.. - 06-12-2012, 13:22 | posts: 986 | Location: Southampton, UK

I'm going to install the mesh side panel into my 650D to get some better air flow on my new cards and I 'm looking for suggestions on what fan to use. I'm thinking one 200mm as it will be quieter, rather than x4 120mm and I'd prefer one with no lights as I already have LEDs on other fans.

Looking to balance noise with performance (obviously )

Anyone got any favs?

The Bitfenix Spectre Pro 200mm (NOT the normal Spectre) or the Coolermaster Storm Force.

I have heard that some people have issues with the Spectre Pro (can't remember what they are), and I'm not sure whether Coolermaster still make the CM Storm Force fans, as they are not listed on their website. That said, they don't appear under legacy products either, and they are still available where I am. They supposedly do 143CFM at 23dBA, which is really quite decent!

The Spectre Pro does 148CFM at 27.2dBA, so effectively quite a bit louder than the sorm force for not much gain.

EDIT: Main Coolermaster site doesn't have the Storm Force fans listed, but it is listed on their US regional site:
http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/prod...roduct_id=2918

Maybe they are only available in some regions?

I should point out these can be used normally, but the separate speed control function isn't available and it will most likely run at full speed all the time. This really isn't an issue and probably preferable anyway!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835209021 Antec has a 3 speed adjustable fan that will push/pull 134 cfm. I currently have one in my antec 900, which was the stock fan, even on full blast it is still very quiet.
