So, how are these results?

I never really overclocked this CPU that much since I have been using the stock cooler for 3 years as I've never been a overclocker myself. But I got myself a Scythe Mugen 3 PCGH cooler and I thought I'd give it a shot and see how far I could push my 3 year old CPU and this is the highest I could get with the core voltage at 1.38v without HT. How are these temperatures? I've been googling a lot to find out what the max temp for this CPU really is and I find lot's of different answer so I'm a bit confused and I really wanna know what the max temp for this cpu may or may not be, thanks in advance.

Temps are excellent.
Mine hits a max of 69c on a TRUE120, while at 3.8 / 1.31v. (1300 RPM noctua fans)

Looking good, temps are more than fine for long term. If you're voltage isn't too high you might be able to squeeze a bit more out of that.

Nice temps and excellent speed as well. I have the same chip and its max stable speed is 4.0ghz with max temps running around 63'c with a Corsair Hydro H60 (2x 120mm fans @ 1600rpm). Idle temps are low 30's on average.

Thanks guys, after a few days of messing around with voltages trying to get this thing up to 4.2 Ghz, I finally gave up because even with the core-voltage at 1.41v (out of spec) I couldn't get it stable. I was about to upgrade this CPU, but the performance of this processor is amazing when overclocked like this and I don't feel like paying over 500e for just a new motherboard and a new CPU which would offer me a 15-20% performance increase over this one. I left Prime95 running overnight and it didn't fail for 10 hours so that looks good haven't had a single crash on this clock speed! Temperatures in games are great, the highest temp I saw was 62 after 2 hours of Battlefield 3 this heatsink does one hell of a job, especially for 40e. Thanks for all your information guys, I keep running it this way!

That's a very good chip push for 4.2Ghz. Mine hits 70+ prime at 4GHz using the TRUE black and a single fan, I really hate noise

Hi guys, I am just curious about something. Are all of you overclocking with HT off, like Marco, and if so, why? Because temps under 70 degrees do not seem feasible with HT on and vCore at or above 1.35v (on air, to be precise).

Regards,

J
