Cool GPU Upgrade for other PC - 06-10-2012, 15:17 | posts: 140 | Location: Philippines

Gurus I need an advice. In the house, there is another PC that members of the family uses a lot since I don't want them to use my PC.

Mostly they browse the internet, play light games and office stuffs. The games they play are NBA 2K12, Crysis 2, Diablo 3, Star Craft 2, Alan Wake and Street Fighter X Tekken.

The monitor is 17 inches with max resolution of 1280 x 1024. I want a gpu that is not overkill because there is no current plan for replacing the small monitor. Budget is flexible as long as the gpu is not overkill.

PC Specs:

i5 2400
Asrock H61m vs
8 gb (2x4gb) geil 1333
Gigabyte 9800 gt 512mb ddr3
FSP Everest 700 watts 80 Plus
Viewsonic 17 inches with 1280 x 1024 Resolution.

Thanks in advance Gurus..

For that resolution, GTS450, GTX550, GT640....all would be sufficient.

I'd get a 6850, it's really the best bang for buck card for that res and needs only one 6-pin power connector. You'll get very smooth framerates in pretty much any game at the highest settings. 7770 is great as well, costs less ,performs a bit worse, uses even less power.
