Game looks pretty good.

Gameplay footage here, it's at the end of the conference, around 1 hour mark

Joystiq think it was on pc, judging by how it looks far too good to be on an xbox.

I've not had a game make me gawp like that when I first laid eyes on it in a long, long time.

I can't believe they managed to keep it under wraps.

Some info

Quote:
Development of Watch Dogs is being led by Ubisoft Montreal, with a team comprised of industry veterans from blockbuster franchises like Assassin’s Creed®, Rainbow 6® and Far Cry™. Watch Dogs blends cutting-edge technologies and sophisticated game design into a realistic and living open world where players must use any means at their disposal to take down a corrupt system.

In Watch Dogs, players enter the dangerous world of Aiden Pearce, a new class of antihero whose ability to hack into any connected system could be his most powerful weapon. Whether it’s triggering a 30-car pileup by manipulating traffic-lights to trap an enemy during a downtown shootout or tapping into the city’s omnipresent security cameras to access anyone’s personal information, Pearce is capable of coercing and controlling almost every element of the world around him.

“Watch Dogs goes beyond the limits of today’s open-world games by giving players the ability to control an entire city,” said Jonathan Morin, creative director, Ubisoft. “In Watch Dogs, anything connected to the city’s Central Operating System becomes a weapon. By pushing the boundaries, we can provide players with action and access to information on a scale that’s never been seen in a video game before.”

Well I'm gonna call it. There's no ****ing way on gods earth that this game will be seen running on current gen consoles. If any of you have ever seen GTA IV modded to hell and back via the use of iCEnhancer or ENB - that's pretty darn close to how good this game looks when running modded GTA IV on high spec PC's.

I guess Ubisoft not releasing any concrete info is all part and parcel of the control thing they have going on in the game. Damn them. Love them.

Joystiq is raging in the comments over what it was playing on, I still think it was just a pc using an xbox controller.

If indeed this is the case it makes me quite excited to be a PC gamer once again as it could well mean we start to see PC rich PC exclusivity deals once again. Until the next gen consoles actually arrive to match. The balance of power could be tipping back in the PC favours once more and may finally put an end to shoddy PC ports once and for all.

Of course I would like the game to come to as many platforms as possible (I'm not greedy) but it's important that the PC gets the recognition back it used to as the place to be for cutting edge gaming.

Some 720p footage of it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcMRkyoHKeA

After watching it in good quality, there is no way that was 360/PS3 footage, and if it was then that's one godlike engine. I'm betting it was on PC with a pad.

Update: The Ubisoft press site was just updated and shows Watch Dogs as a Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC release with a launch date yet to be determined. Meanwhile, a programmer with Ubisoft posted that Watch Dog is "running on PS3 and 360 at this point in time."

There's no way that demo was running on 360. There may well be a 360 version but I'm damned if it's going to look anything as good as what we saw in that video tonight. Funny seeing how many were screaming LOOK NEXT GEN GAMING! Nope my friends, it was just a PC.
