testmyspeed.com shows me 11-12 mb/s download speed.

Everything works fine for everything. I can stream several hd videos at a time with no issues, and I can play games online all day with no problems. Steam downloads games at over 2 Mb/s.

I just bought Battlefield 3 last week, and every time I play, I get kicked out of the game after 10 or 15 minutes. I can no longer watch videos over the internet, I can't play any other games online, Steam won't download faster than ~300 Kb/s, and testmyspeed.com drops my download speed from 10 all the way down to 2 Mb/s (if I'm lucky).

Everything goes back to normal when I reset my router. I can't figure out how the game could be messing up the internet. Restarting the computer doesn't help, it has to be the linksys router.

My pc is connected to a ZyXEL router I set up as a client to connect to my router, which is right down the hall in the line of sight.

In my opinion wireless bridges stink.

As to why BF3 is screwing things up it could be simple wireless traffic collision from neighboring WiFi.

Although we use wireless devices here at home for the more important things like video streaming and video games its all wired, some of it is done with power line ethernet bridges that are much more consistent then wireless.

Sounds like there's a major interference source that was suddenly introduced. This is why I never recommend wireless technology except for simple surfing as that's what it's only good for tbh.

For me, it has to be wired, no matter how good they make wireless, it's still very far off from good 'ol CAT cables, especially in terms of latency and stable connection.

Well, I had a feeling everyone was going to tell me to go wired...

I'm moving in two weeks, and will no longer be wireless, so I will post here if I get the same issue.

I still don't understand how the internet can work so well for me for everything, until I run Battlefield 3, then nothing works right until I reset the router.

Can you check your network traffic when it happens? make sure BF3 or steam are not triggering something else that's using the internet?

I have seen this on my computer also, but only on certain websites, soon as a certain pop up window opens it does the same thing yours is doing until I reset my internet connection.

I've always used a wireless router, never had any ping, lag, or connection issues. But my router has never been more than 10 feet from my computer.
