HD 3870: No AMD graphics driver is installed, or the AMD driver is not functioning... -
05-28-2012, 19:38
I'm running an HD 3870 which has never given me any trouble, particularly with driver installs. However, now, even though the installation is deemed a complete success, my PC always says "No AMD graphic driver is installed, or the AMD driver is not functioning properly. Please install the AMD driver appropriate for your AMD hardware." I've been downloading from the AMD website as always, for a desktop HD 3xxx series, Windows 64 Bit, so I'm sure I've got the correct drivers? In Device manager it has the exclamaition mark, with the details: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
I've had this problem since I changed my HDD, since the old one was crashing whilst making weird sounds all the time, and my PC buddy suggested it was actually damaged. Even on a clean install of windows I get this error message. I've googled like crazy to find a fix for it, but nothing has worked, or else people haven't answered and the thread has been buried. I've tried:
-Reinstalling windows.
-Updating MB VGA drivers upon fresh install before installing Ati Drivers.
-Installing to the desktop and intending to extract myself.
-Installing some older version drivers with a clean install of windows.
-Installing the drivers that came with the original CD, HOWEVER for some unknown reason it only installs NET 2.0 and nothing else, even on custom...?
Short of scrapping my PC once I can afford to buy a new one, I'm not really sure what to do/which hardware/software to blame for this constant error? Any help will be enormously appreciated, it's really done my nut in!
Thanks.

Unistall all related drivers and then use Driver Sweper, and check the ATI/AMD drivers box when searching. After it cleans , install all drivers again mobofirst then gpu. Hope it helps
Until last year I had that same GPU and it was very good at low resolutions

Code 43 -

I read where a code 43 is related to USB driver, that's from Microsoft! Like Sinaster said, what's your mobo make & model, and the OS your using, that would help us help you possibly.

Have you tried cleaning your motherboard, PCI-E slot and other components and then re sitting all again? are all your caps in good conditions?

Code 43 often happens with NVIDIA nForce3 chipset or below, because NVIDIA never made AGP bus driver for Vista and above.
If this is the case, use XP.
Code 43 means that the graphics adapter can not communicate successfully with the operating system.
If you have any other chipset, install latest chipset drivers from manufacturer's site or motherboard site.

I saw somewhere, that the nforce drivers are unified, so you can add right ID (and section?) to inf file and then you can use it also for older nforce chipset.
For example for nForce3 I found latest drivers 15.26, but they are still only for XP.
http://www.9down.com/nvidia-nforce-u...26-whql-77799/
Latest drivers: http://us.download.nvidia.com/Window...ional-whql.exe
I have also nForce3 with AGP and HD3450 GC. But I didn't tested it yet, also I don't want to install Win7.

Ya, on various forums, I tried to make .inf install latest drivers for people with nForce3 and before for Vista and above. Out of maybe 20-30 times I tried, only like 2-3 people said it worked.
So by this, we can assume that there is a way and perhaps those 2-3 people followed instructions how to install better than most....or who knows? lol I don't have any hardware like that to test myself, unfortunately.

Nvidia, in their infinite wisdom, decided to drop support for Vista on the nF2 and nF3 which is why there are no official Vista drivers.
Just some fyi...

I just installed the modified drivers on Win XP and works great.
Only the drivers are unsigned, so on Win7 could be good to install DSE previously...
I really like the nVidia audio panel, it has better EQ then Realtek
Also ethernet works again.

Sorry about the late reply, I've been swamped under with family stuff for a while. My motherboard model is an MSI K9N6PGM2-V, and my OS is Windows 7 Ultimate Ed. Previously my MB and OS didn't seem to be having any problems, but could it be that for some reason such an error is occuring now?
