Some amazing moments with this game. I met some random guy and he told me he's going for the hospital so I followed him. We were both running low on blood so we healed each other, waved goodbye and split apart, continuing our way.

Yea, for me, it is stuff like you just said that make this game so cool...each session can become a really cool experience.

A few days ago I came across a guy, pretty far out in the woods...said he was heading to the NW airfield but accidently hit the prone button while running and he broke a bone when he fell

I gave him a morphine injector and fixed him up....what the hell are the chances anybody comes across him fairly far out in the woods to begin with?

He had an Alice backpack and he gave me an extra compass that he was carrying and a few slugs for my winny....I am still using that compass and it is handy as hell

I still cant not believe I have found a MP game that I dont hate.....this mod has already set me back $40 for Arma 2, plus I bought the PMC dlc...now I think I am going to invest in a headset.

Be sure to post your cool stories here ....I just love reading what all goes on in this game and what goes thru peoples minds while playing.

Have Fun!

One downside tho. I cannot make surround sound work and I looked everywhere on the net. It would be even more immersive if it did

Hey Wanny, are you using the beta patch? I hate that they disabled side chat. I tried to revert back, to no avail. I may do a reinstall, as I enjoy the often hilarious banter that scrolls by in-game.

I discovered that the servers that require the 93825 beta do include the side channel, at least the couple I tried.

As I wandered the countryside today I uncovered a good way to forget the horrors of the zombie apocalypse - the time-honored and relaxing pastime of lawn care.

New patch removes the Makarov haha.
Can't wait. Hopefully it will stop some on the early shooting of players and maybe promote some teamwork.

Quote:
Rough outline of what to expect in the pending update.

I will update this as more stuff is put in. Changelog will then follow it.

Performance and Optimization

- Reduction/elimination of the new server lag. This is caused by the ArmA2 server expecting immediate response from the central server. Vehicles are the main cause of this, as whenever they are damaged everything stops while the server ensures this is recorded in the database.
- Bugs fixed that were possibly causing very significant netcode overhead (will need mass-scale testing to verify this).

Infected Behavior

- Infected can no longer see/attack through walls.
- Entirely new mocap'd attack and running animations

Content

- Additional Idle Infected sounds
- Revised Attack sounds
- Many new action sounds, including IV, bandaging etc...

Notes

- This update will REQUIRE the beta patch, so it is worth installing this now and getting used to it.
- Read up at the BI Forums about the beta patch install. It's pretty easy.

Current Changelog

Developer's Note:
* Requires ArmA2 Beta.

Changelog:
* [FIXED] Wire Spools, Toolboxes, hedgehog (tank trap) kits not spawning
* [FIXED] Bodies still being deleted too quickly sometimes
* [FIXED] No backpacks or medical boxes spawning
* [FIXED] "No Speaker..." debug report spam
* [FIXED] Infected spawning too close to players (minimum 30m now)
* [FIXED] Infected not spawning inside buildings any more
* [NEW] Infected can't attack through walls
* [NEW] Infected can't see through objects any more
* [NEW] Infected visibility increased (but limited by LOS)
* [NEW] Infected attack range increased (but limited by LOS)
* [NEW] Infected can cause greater damage when they hit you
* [NEW] You can hide from an infected chasing you
* [NEW] Optimized server cleanup routine
* [NEW] Player body exists for five seconds after disconnect (UNCONFIRMED IF WORKING)
* [NEW] Infected see based on eye direction, not on body direction as before
* [NEW] 30Rnd_545x39_AK added to loot table
* [NEW] More infected attack animations
* [NEW] More infected feeding animations
* [NEW] Replaced monkey infected crawing run animation
* [NEW] Heartbeat when cursor on a player with very low humanity (heart beats faster the lower it is)
* [NEW] Humanity GUI indicator removed
* [NEW] New Infected and Action sound effects (more AWESOME stuff by Michael Manning)
* [NEW] Initial version of double-barreled shotgun added (by Artyom)
* [FIXED] CZ550 spawning far too often in farms
* [FIXED] Winchester decreased spawnrate (% given to double barrel shotty)
* [NEW] Recombine shotgun rounds between 2 and 8 rounds
* [NEW] Recombine 45ACP rounds between M1911 and Revolver rounds
* [FIXED] Tent placement is completely screwed (now can place anywhere except in building)
* [FIXED] Items for Eating and Drinking not removed instantly (allowed some duping)
* [NEW] DayZ: Now with additional cruelty!. Spawn with only a bandage, painkillers, and a torch.

Surround sound works fine for me, but I have logitech g35 headset with dolby surround sound. Really gives you an advantage when you can hear where people are before you see each other.

Yup, take a look at those "eye and ear" meters - s#*t made me nervous. After the initial thrill of finding the thing and a one minute drive, I was done - way too conspicuous! Although, if I only had my "new spawn" gear, I'd drive that b@tch through downtown Electro and mow down the hordes until I got shot/eaten.

almost broke my keyboard in two. nothing more annoying then a extremely buggy game and players spawn killing as soon as you spawn.
think ill leave it for a few months when things are better. this is not worth it now.

WhiteLightning make sure your running the latest beta patch.

http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php.

I recommend using Spirited Machine Arma 2 Launcher or Six Updater to configure the game to use the beta and mod.

Arma2 launcher and six updater just make things more complicated IMO. Much easier to manually copy the files.

no the problem is actually with the latest patch and dayz 1.7.1. they recommend the Build_93701 on the dayz forums. so not 93825

Spawning in a open field (stuck in wilderness),cant use inventory, spawning groups of zombies at once, invisible are all part of the latest patch

im using 1.7.0 now with Build_93701 , and things seem fine most of the time now.

hmm kind of weird. ive tried the latest again, and it did work. but there was no sound now lol.
