This is where the law fails, I mean 20 yrs for shooting a warning shot??
http://www.cnn.com/2012/05/11/justic...ing/index.html
It pisses me off to see how us regular Joes get the book thrown at us yet theres ppl like Sherriff Sullivan from Ft Collins Colorado who was dealing meth, having sex with prostitutes and doing meth only get 30 days in jail and 2 yrs probation
http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_19456678
I guess its them on one side and the rest of us on the other side.

She was offered (Alexander) a plea bargain that would have resulted in a three-year prison sentence, but Alexander chose to take the case to a jury trial....
A jury in March convicted her of aggravated assault after just 12 minutes of deliberation....12 minutes!!!!....You my friend...Need to "take off your blinders"........

Mandatory minimum sentences can cause tremendous miscarriages of justice. Judges should be allowed more discretion to impose a sentence befitting the crime and the mitigation.

Florida,is one of the states that has a law allowing you to kill someone,if you are in fear of your life. Had she done that, she would have walked away without penalty. Go figure! Only in America!

She went to the garage and got a gun, returned and fired the gun at a man and his two children. You don't stand your ground by returning with a gun and you get twenty years when children are involved. She got what she deserves.

well, when you think of those real criminals who kill/rape/steal/sell drugs and get 1/10th of what she is facing this is pretty extreme sentence. Especially if it is done in 12 minutes.

This rarely happens, especially if they're African American. It's silly logic to base your entire opinion of American law on isolated cases you hear on the news with incomplete facts that make them seem ridiculous. Let's take for example the classic "dumb woman sues mcdonalds for spilling her coffee". If you read the details of the case (google it), you'll find she actually wasn't in the wrong despite the rumors that circulated through the uninformed.
That's not to say the system is anywhere near perfect, as minimum sentence laws like this can genuinely screw people as in cases like this. However, these cases are rare.
With that said, she definitely wasn't anywhere near innocent, as she knowingly put herself back into a dangerous situation after leaving it to begin with, and discharged the weapon in the direction of children.

Keep protecting your constitution America. Seems like these days it means **** anyway. "You have the right to bare arms", but not the right to use them (yeah makes perfect sense).
20yrs for a warning shot - pretty extreme indeed; and yet is anyone asking themselves just how it got this bad in the first place. Is anyone asking themselves why/how America turned into a "Police state."
Starting to think Korea ain't that bad when you hear about extreme topics like this in the so called more civilized country's.

Yes, because that's what the second amendment means, the ability to shoot anybody you want. It all comes down to the circumstances. If she had the gun and shot before leaving the first time she would have gotten off with nothing. Before going on a rant, read the details next time.

Well, here in NZ we don't have the constitution. We are under the "British rule" (more or less).
Point being, law in general has gotten quite out of hand, and is somewhat no longer beneficial to people in the right anymore.
There was an incident here in NZ a few years back, where a farmer got jailed for 20 something yrs for accidentally shooting a "Mongrel Mob" member. The gang member was stealing his quads and consistently threatening his life if he didn't cooperate - this went on for some time.
Well, this farmer had enough and decided to take the law into his own hands - since the police were doing **** all anyway, so the farmer accidentally shot him one night (he died).
So was the farmer in the right? Yes. As long as it was strictly in self defense and it wasn't intentional murder.
As for the mob member himself: Attempted murder, threatening, theft, trespassing, etc.
One less piece of **** on this planet, and a farmer that got 20yrs for protecting his own. Sound fair. I don't think so.

Rumor has it. She hasn't done a days worth of physical work in her life.
But that's just rumor. Given her "Royal Status" I wouldn't put it past me.
Shes also the biggest land owner in the world too.
