Best to keep computer questions on the forum threads.

Why exactly are you looking at H61 instead of H77?

I question those results... the comparison of the A6 and A8 vs the i3 is completely INVALID.

Why? because look at the notes! they are comparing the gaming performance of the APU alone vs the i3 with a discrete HD5870/GTX 280, so that completely invalidates the argument.

The A8 vs the i3 is faster for gaming using the inbuilt graphics, and the A8 can be crossfired with a discrete AMD card (6670 I believe) which leads to higher benchmarks than what it sounds - a very decent entry level gaming computer.

If you choose to use comparison benchmarks make sure they are fair to both parties, and that they are set up correctly and don't have hidden biased conditions.

So all the other non gaming tests that were run are invalid too? I read the release notes too, you sure the a8 integrated gpu is capable of those framerates ? And the a8 was not using the same gpus? If you look at the 2 power consumption graphs both systems had a 5870 in them. Geez.I declare your invald statement hereby INVALID

Well in any case, the HD5870 and GTX 280 are high end components (old, but high end), remembering AMD changed the 8 to a 9 on the HD6000 series.

If you buy an i3, you're unlikely to couple it with a high end GPU of any type. Likewise with and AMD A8, if you are to couple it with a GPU you couple it with one that makes sense, like the HD6670. Remember both the i3 and A8 are budget processors, so I'm being realistic here. I do also notice its the A8-3850 and not the A8-3870K used in the comparison.

Now, what about his comparison?:
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_look...MD+A8-3870+APU

You have to scroll a bit further down the list until you come to the i3-2310.

Also check out this:
http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=2079&pageID=10689

Remembering it is comparing the slower A8-3850 (not the A8-3870K). Sure, the i5 is faster, but we're talking the i3 here which is also listed. This brings me back to my previous argument, the A8-3870K (which is overclockable, the i3 isn't), and the HD6670 is a good budget combination. The future A10-5800K and HD7670 would be a good upcoming combination.

I had both for a little while, but then car repairs bit me in the ass so I'm back on my old system. It's not by any means unbearable (and kind of surprises me about what it can still do honestly). But I do miss me some SB goodness.

I3 sandybridge.......fantastic CPU and you dont need to sell a kidney to buy one....and when the i5/i7 come down in price you can just swap them out.
