Arrow New gaming keyboard - 05-01-2012, 17:51 | posts: 110

Hi guys, i need help finding a keyboard.
I want a mechanical keyboard, cherry mx brown switches if possible, led backlight, pretty good keyrollover.
Is there any medium height key mechanical keyboard?? I find them really comfortable.
I dont care about macro keys.

They all use cherry blues, so they should all be very similar.

The CM Storm Trigger is about to get a US release. That's the one I'm waiting for. It will use Cherry MX browns initially, but may have other options later.

Nope. The Black widow Stealth series uses the cherry mx browns, exactly what the OP wants.

I perfer the BWU over the BWS, but that's just me. After using it for so long, I'd die if i ever went back to a membrane style keyboard.

I used a blackwidow ultimate battlefield 3 edition, i thought all the black widow had red switches now.
Im really interested in the cm storm as well now, it looks like a really good keyboard as well.

I was going to get a razer blackwidow, but ended up getting a Gigabyte Aivia K8100. It's not mechanical, but I love it so far. There's a review of the keyboard here in Guru3D as well

Edit: Mine is the black version.

The gygabyte seems very good but ive never owned a mechanical keyboard and never gamed hard on one, ive used some a few times but not that much. So i really want a mechanical keyboard to see if they are as good as people say.
Firestorm what are you talking about, what is bwu and bws??
Do anyone know some store that let you try keyboards, if you know a place near minneapolis that would be even better

I was going to buy the Razer Black Widow myself until I saw how cheap the keyboard looked with its glossy black frame (a dust and fingerprint magnet, if ever there was one) and bizarre mixed upper/lower case key typeface (which apparently fade after a few months of use according to one video review I saw). I originally wanted a Razer keyboard to compliment the Razer Mamba 2012 I've just bought but couldn't find one I actually liked.

In the end I opted for the Thermal Tt eSports MEKA G-Unit as it looks like it has everything I'd ever need in a keyboard and looks pretty nice to boot. Should get it on Friday. Uses Cherry MX Black switches though but having never used a mechanical keyboard before it doesn't bother me which I have particularly. The Blacks are supposed to be better for gaming from what I've read but not so great for heavy typing (which I don't do anyway).

That's the point, Razer chose the Cherry MX Blue switch because it has the least force required to actuate the switches.

I actually quite like it, esp. since the main point of my keyboard is typing which happens to also be used in gaming.
