Same problems here but I work for an ISP in Belgium and we're getting there, within 5 years from now any home should be able to handle multiple 1080p streams.

The majority of our customers in cities can already get the right speeds, but it's still quite problematic in rural areas.

you are correct and i agree with you.

but on the other hand you can also read all sorts of amusing stuff in threads like these and you could use it to lighten up an otherwise hot thread that was going to hell

things should never get too personal especially on the internet, opinions will always differ, and no matter how strongly a person disagrees he should at the very least respect the other person's opinion without resorting to an attitude that would in the end result in rudeness, flaming, possibly a ban and ultimately a thread closure.

like i always say.. the beauty (and curse) of life is that everyone's different.

No, it's not necessarily a lost sale. It's 100% illegal, yes, but not at all a lost sale every time. Say you earn 100 euros a month and a game costs 50 euros. There's no way you can afford it so you pirate it. It's not a lost sale because bread and butter come first.

So put part of that 100 away and save every month for however long it takes to buy it.

I mean, I understand not everyone who pirates would have bought said game, but I also don't think it's fair to argue that if somehow piracy was banned outright, that somehow game sales would go down.

Ok... Say you earn 100 euros a month and your living cost is 110 euros a month, plus you're in debt. what then? You love your games but you can't afford to buy them so you pirate them. what is so hard to understand here?

How is this any different? You'll probably say material cost is loss - materials cost money, same with the IP of the game you're pirating, it's no different and if you say it's different then I challenge you to run a gaming company that produces AAA titles for free.

i think it has something to do with what's right and wrong and this varies a lot from person to person and how they interpret the law.

unfortunately i don't see a solution to the whole piracy problem because everyone is guilty, pirates, developers and even loyal customers who think it's ok to buy and support games with severe restrictions and i was one of those, i got burned a few times, couldn't even run my legit game and had to resort to some kind of nocd or crack, which is ridiculous imo.

i do agree with you that pirated games don't automatically mean lost sales every time.

Gaming isn't a necessity of life.

If you steal a cat from the shop, it's a lost sale because they can't sell it any more. If you download a game from torrents because you just don't have the money, is not a lost sale. I'm not saying it's right, I'm not saying it's legal.

@firestorm- i never said it was.

The thread seemed somewhat civilized, although it did seem a bit moody.

Just joking.
