Default Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240GB low scores? - 04-20-2012, 02:28 | posts: 147 | Location: Canada

Just got my Chronos Deluxe 240Gig and did some benchmarks. The scores seem a bit low to me for a tier one SSD.

CrystalDiskMark 3.0.1

Read Write
Seq 501.8 318.9
512K 449.1 316.9
4K 32.09 113.1
4KQD32 198.8 258.0

AS SSD Benchmark 1.6.4237.30508

Read Write
Seq 500.66 298.95
4K 20.40 94.52
4K-64Thrd 206.28 74.97
Acc.time 0.072ms 0.235ms

I am using the latest firmware (5.0.2).
The drive is connected to Intel SATA III connector on my ASUS P9X79 Pro MB using SATA 6Gbps cable.
This is a fresh Win7 Pro 64 installation with mainly the MB drivers. AHCI is enabled in BIOS (ver. 1010 latest on Asus site).

Also, did the following tweaks in Windows:

1. ) Disabled Pagefile (32GB RAM should be enough )
2. ) Disabled hibernation
3. ) Disabled superfetch service
4. ) Disabled Windows search service
5. ) Disabled drive indexing.
6. ) Disabled disk defrag.

The drive is only 8% filled at the moment.
btw getting 7.9 on WEI.

Thanks.

That seems about right.

By default Crystalmark uses incompressible data, if you want to see better speeds in the test then choose "Test Data" and "0X00 fill" which uses compressible data (which the SF-2281 excels at).

In any case, your scores are right where (and even a bit faster) they should be.

P.S.- You can leave superfetch on.
