Dump my 580s to get a 680?? -

As the title says should i sell off my 2 MSI 580 lightning xtreme editions for an evga 680 classified? or MSI 680 lightning xtreme? I dont really use SLI anymore actually with the games i play and only really got SLI for BF3 and Crysis 2. Now that i dont play those games and only use one of my 580 thought of getting the 680 as its faster single card. But then again i also do still play BF3 here and there and want to maintain more then 60FPS at 1080P all settings maxed.

I know but i feel reluctant though. as 2 580s are much faster then a single 680.... fml... that and i also plan to play Diablo 3 in 3D if it supports it.

Only do it if your not actually paying anything.
I still use mine all the time. Never will i turn them off unless a game is ****ting itself because of SLI

Keep the 580's.
I was in the same boat as you when I had my HD5970. The majority of the time, I would only use one of the two GPUs. I would only enable the second GPU if I really wanted better performance
A GTX680 is roughly 25% faster than a GTX580, and most games don't really take advantage of all that power. If you need more performance, you can just enable SLI. IMHO, with that setup, you're better off waiting for Maxwell if you want a single card solution. I don't see any logical reason to downgrade your system, unless of course you're making a profit off of it

Well, i'm looking to sell them for about SGD$1000+. I bought them for about SGD$1600. The money i get from selling these im going to use to get the 680 and maybe IVB. Also i'm getting sick of my cards cause they run bloody hot and i have to turn my fan speeds up to 75% to keep them bellow 80C and its just too noisy. Just dont want to regret it that's all.

If lowering your max potential performance isn't an issue, then I'd say go for it. But honestly, 80c isn't hot at all, not for a high end card. Even my GTX680 often runs between the mid to high 80's.

Do what ever you think is best for your rig, I got told when i asked the question should i upgrade from my GTX 480 to a GTX 680 to hold on to my 480 as it wasnt worth and to overclock my CPU.
Yet there saying you should go for it and get a GTX 680, i just dont get that bit lol.

I would update. Actually im going to update.
Just for the minimum framerate increase (for me the most annoying thing is to get slowdowns) is worth it.

2 580`s for 1 680, nah, keep what you have and wait for gk110. that will be a worthy upgrade for you. as posted a 680 is only 25% faster than a 580.

^This
However, personally I think individual owners of "SLI's" and or "Crossfire's" usually have more issues/bugs than that of single card owners. I had a Crossfire set up and it never lived up to it's full potential imho. I have an 580 and won't upgrade until the next gen 680's come out.
Whatever you decide... Good luck friend...

dont you have the 3gb 580`s? they will fare better than the regular 1.5gb 580`s. if you want to buy something get the dual gk104 card 690 or wait for gk110.

I would sell one 580 now and stay with the other one until GK110. Selling it now will give you a better price, as it will be devalued after the GK110 launch.

+1 this is what i would do if i had 2x580s,then again there is nothing out there to really max these cards out,you could always stick with them and wait for maxwell.
580's are good cards, theres no need to change them tbh.

+2 1XGTX580 3GB to GTX680 is a minor upgrade, good but not major in term of performance. GTX680 value will downhill once GK110 is out.
This is only an opinion...
