Default dead GTX570? - 04-18-2012, 21:05 | posts: 31

I just got a P N Y GTX570. I plugged the two PCI-e connectors (6-pins) in my 1000watt power supply. I get nothing, zero. Tried to plugin the card in the pci-e slot back a few times to make sure it s tightned but that s also not the problem. Also did a W7 reinstall to be sure but this also gave no result (NVIDIA installation cannot run because no compatible hardware is found). Plugging my monitor with a DVI->mon dongle also gives me a blanc screen......

Is it a dead GTX570?

Have to mention that I removed the stickers on the print plate of the card with a knife so maybe I f@#$@# up the card by doing this?

Turn off the Integrated Intel HD gpu on your CPU.

Go to the UEFI (I call it "You-eh-fee" lol) Look in the Advanced North Bridge Configuration and change the Primary Graphics Adapter to PCI-Express.

Well if you scraped off the stickers that means that you just voided your warranty. Bad move

never assume a piece of hardware will work, 90% of the time it doesn't for one reason or another even if it's sealed in titanium box (or at least that's what i like to think).

it will prevent you from causing actual damage to your hardware, always make sure the hardware works before proceeding to torture the card with a piece of glass in order to remove stickers etc.

few things.

ask a mod to move this into Videocards - nVidia section, you'll have more views there and more advice. What I've done a few times before is I forgot that I was running 2 screens (24" monitor and 32" TV) from my gpu and I had the cables plugged in the other way round meaning my primary screen was the TV which meant my monitor wouldn't come on because I didn't have multiple screens setup in windows.

Also, does your fan/fans spin up? on the gpu I mean? and post a picture of the card, a close up from where you took the sticker off.

eh, no.

Presuming the card is new(ish?) and you removed stickers, it would seem you have voided your warranty by doing so. NEVER EVER REMOVE STICKERS, ESPECIALLY NOT WITH A KNIFE!

Check to see if this is the case first, and if you are lucky, you may be able to RMA the card.

Sounds like you damaged the PCB with your knife. You pretty much thrown away your money.

Apart from that wouldn't his CPU + the 570 Bottleneck?

It's entirely possible your 350W PSU can't power the card

EDIT: Nevermind, I see you have a 1000w

Looks like you knifed your GPU to death.
