Mine can get loud if I dont have the game installed like others have mentioned. The games I play alot I always install to the HD. I always laugh when I play a game that isnt installed because im shocked at how loud it is. I dont have a slim but the slightly older 360 elite (the black one).
You can also take some compressed air and blow out the back to clean out some of that dust too. Helps a little bit. I dont know if the fans are temp sensed or not, it could be placebo
