Default GPU overclock settings revert to default after shutdown - 04-13-2012, 19:23 | posts: 5

Hi all,

My names Andy, i'm new to these forums and to the world of overclocking! I have a little problem at the moment with my overclock settings on my MSI 6970 Lightning.

Everytime I input these into afterburner and apply them and click the apply at start up they work and ET6 and other programs show them as working, but when I shut down and turn it on later, now this is the weird part!

Afterburner still shows the overclock settings but all the other monitor programs like ET6 and CCC have shown them all at default again =/

Never ever did this before!!

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Andy

maybe it's AMd driver problem, did you try saving a profile and applying it?

I've tried saving a profile on afterburner but not on CCC, I tried adjusting the overclock with CCC overdrive enabled and disabled, it seems to fall over as well on the overclock settings when overdrive is enabled... but just doens't store the damn settings in afterburner =(

Obviously as I got fed up with changing them everytime I booted, they're back to normal now. But did you want a picture of the front of MSI, with the settings that I had?

Many thanks

Andy

It looks slightly different, i've tried installing those missing .DLL files and they didn't really do anything. What I have noticed is happening now is on boot it's set to default even if MSI starts up when the system boots, but if I close MSI and then restart it the OC sets, does that make any sense?

After you place the .dll file in the AB folder open MSIAfterburner.cfg and set unofficial overclocking mode to 0.

Then go to the AB .exe file, open properties and add -xcl to the target box. Then reboot.

Post back results

Btw are you sure you placed the correct .dll file in your AB folder? What is showing under profiles?

Ah, the .DLLs I was talking about were the ones that people were saying had been missing from the new 12.2 and 12.3 CCC drivers. I'll take another look at those afterburner .cfg settings when I get home, many thanks
