Codemasters has today officially announced F1 2012, which appears again in September 2012 and brings new and exciting features with it.
First, new features to set before the driver test mode, which will take players closer to the Formula 1 experience approach. Here it goes through a full range of tutorials, including one for responsive handling of the most exciting F1 cars. Furthermore, Codemasters promises an incomparable thrill through far-reaching technological advances and gameplay improvements and a competitive and cooperative multiplayer mode.
F1 2012 supports all the official teams, riders and courses of the 2012 FIA Formula One World Championship, including the debut of the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, and the return on the German Hockenheimring.

Demo.
EDIT: Info.
http://www.cclonline.com/article/444...ing-This-Week/
Quote:
The F1 2012 demo will launch on Xbox 360 in Europe and North America today, PC worldwide and PlayStation 3 in North America on Tuesday 11th September and for PlayStation 3 in Europe on Wednesday 12th September.
In the demo, you will be able to sample two of the game’s new features, Young Driver Test and Season Challenge. In the Young Driver Test, which takes inspiration from the real-life event held at Abu Dhabi, players will learn how to handle and get the most out of motorsport’s most exciting and responsive racing cars with a series of tests and videos.
Gamers will then sample Season Challenge, a new game mode where players will compete across just ten races to become the number one driver on the grid. In the demo, gamers will pick a rival and aim to beat them in a five lap race at Monza, the iconic 3.6 mile track where cars can reach a top speed of 218m.p.h.

@ lucidus - On the easiest difficulty with all the assists on F1 2012 (and the games before it) could be considered an arcade racer but on the hardest settings with the assists off it is definitely a simulation. Basically it caters for everyone, assuming you're interested in F1 obviously.
The demo seems OK but not radically different from F1 2011 apart from different presentation and new modes. It commits the cardinal sin though of starting without letting you change the graphics options so you'll have to endure ugly screen tearing until you can finally quit and set them from the main menu. Graphics look good but not outstanding, much like the last two versions actually. There again F1 is not a genre that allows for stunning graphics like DiRT as it is based on real-life tracks, most of which don't look that interesting anyway.
Based on the last two games, I'm betting the full game will have a few major bugs but one serious bug that has been eliminated this year is Games for Windows Live!!! I'm sure a lot of people will be happy about that.

I thought NVIDIA had added a profile for F1 2012 but it is prone to flickering when the game transitions from one menu to another even though I have v-sync enabled. Looks like the SLI flag needs updating for this game.

for those interested, games runs on a tweaked f1 2011 engine.
Supports DX11.
1080p/8xMsaa/Ultra High Quality preset= Vsynched 60fps, otherwise around 95+.
Textures could have been better, theyre half way between low and medium res.
Thats it, nothing much changed, theres a new sleek Gui made with controller in mind, which is stylish and modern, i like it.

The game is using 95% console assets so it would never look great anyway but it doesn't help that the tracks are not that interesting with the exception of Monte Carlo. They all pretty much look the same and since the game is a siimulation and uses real-life tracks then the developers are stuck with what they have.
Demo is good but not exceptional as like FIFA 13 there isn't really much they can improve on so the game feels much like F! 2011 which itself felt pretty much the same as F1 2010. I hope the flickering between menu transitions with SLI is fixed in time for the full release though as it seems to be common issue with Codemaster's racing games; the lacklustre DiRT Showdown and superb DiRT 3 both had it until I used alternate SLI flags.

I couldn't really enjoy playing F1 2011 on wheel because of lacklustre FF and overall arcadey feeling (turning all driving assists off just made it more uncompromising - didn't change the physics engine obviously) but that's just me and my private personal opinion. Analog sticks work best for these games.

Thats what I also heard, F1 2011 driving feel was just bad. This game should have that improved, check it out (demo) before judging this game.

Put it this way, DiRT 3 was a huge improvement on DiRT 2 and I found it really enjoyable hence my 'superb' comment. That said, I would like Codemasters to ditch all the non-rallying crap and release a proper rally game like DICE's amazing RalliSport Challenge 2 on the Xbox, which I still consider to be one of the finest rally games released to date which its dozens of long, long tracks and variety. It's a shame it was never released on the PC like the first game as Microsoft never bothered to make it backward compatible on the Xbox 360 so although I still have a copy I cannot play it without digging my old Xbox out of the attic.
The appearance of the terrible DiRT Showdown this year makes me more hopeful that DiRT 4 will be a proper rally game next time. I hope so.
