Question Question: Would you pay extra for a cleanable Laptop? - 02-27-2012, 10:12 | posts: 13 | Location: Gothenburg Sweden

As the title says, would you be willing to pay extra money for a laptop that was easy to clean?
I have had a few laptops that have gotten fried since it was full of dust that made the computer warmer and slower.
The idea also includes a way to easier to clean the keyboard and the speaker filters.

So would you pay for this?
Yes or no.

This is a research for a project me and some friends are working on and we need a few hundred answers to decide if it´s something to continue working on.
So any help spreading this would be very appreciated
Please if you read this thread, take a few seconds and respond! Any answer is helpful

Most laptop can't be cleaned properly, because you have to disassemble them and by that most warranties will by void.

I know what mean op.

Yes.
I have clevo w150hrm/ xmg a501

easy to clean, disassemble(had when friend spilled beer on my laptop), have realy good warranty(can do what i want to my laptop)

And premium laptops with better parts cost same/less than cheap laptop with same parts.

Our idea is much simpler and doesn´t include the risks that the computer you displayed do.
Still any help spreading this is appreciated!

Do you mean like laptop with dust filters? And how it can be much simpler?

But if you got good idea, people will buy it if it's worth the money.

I knew what the OP meant, but in my experience, when I see laptops that REALLY need to be cleaned inside, its because they have been looked after poorly, dragged around carpets etc, but if you look after your lappy, then I i wouldn't pay the extra...

I only use my lappy for low level things and uni work and i open her up every now and again and she is completely dust free, my misses uses hers a lot and its about 3.5 years old, so i opened it up to take a wee look, and all there was was a tiny bit dust around the cpu fan, but not enough to hinder temps or performance.

High end lappy's might be a different story though...

Thanks for the feedback, but a straight up answer if you think it´s an interesting idea or not would be appreciated.

I'd be interested, but I wouldn't pay more, would just push me towards it for the same price.

If it was only 2 or 3 dollars then sure why not. Most people would not need this though. Most laptops ive seen that needed to be cleaned out were 6-7 years old. And since by 6-7 years most are lying in a land fill or on a shelf unused then your average everyday user wouldnt need it.
I do suppose a removable filter for an intake fan would be pretty nifty though.
