Game Informer short review summary.

Ok so I have the magazine in front of me and here is a summary as to what Dan Rykert says

1. "The experience is worth playing, but the buggy gameplay makes Activision's lack of faith in the title is understandable".

2. "While the story itself doesn't offer much in the way of creative mission objectives, a healthy assortment of distractions are available".

3. "Fans of Rocksteady's Batman games should enjoy Sleeping Dogs' fighting system, as it features Wei countering and attacking like he's the caped crusader".

4. "Taking on Hong Kong's underworld with your fists and feet is great, but gunplay is cookie-cutter by comparison".

5. "Shootouts only become frequent later in the game, and their generic nature made me want to charge out from behind cover and deliver a few jump kicks instead of shooting bullets".

6. "Unfortunately, I encountered several bugs and other issues. On top of bugs that forced checkpoint restarts, I also experienced minor annoyances like a lack of transitional animations during combat and lines of dialogue that abruptly cut off".

7. "When everything works correctly, Sleeping Dogs is fun. Combat is rewarding, the leveling system stands out from the open world pack, and driving feels natural. Even if the game was bug free, the ho-hum mission structure and unexciting gunplay are still causes for concern"

Bearing in mind that footage is from the Xbox 360 version with its jaggies and screen tearing, the game looks absolutely terrific and tons of fun to play. Me loves sandbox games and, to be honest, I'd never heard of this game until I stumbled across this thread. Really looking forward to it now. Kind of reminds me a bit of an open world Stranglehold meets Grand Theft Auto with bits of Shenmue and Saints Row throw in.

I was a huge fan of True Crime: Streets of LA on the PC. Even though it was a terrible port I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Wow, PC version is looking super-sexy - check out the video in this link and be sure to hit the 1080p setting. It's only 2 minutes of footage but it shows textures, anti-aliasing and lighting that are superior to the good but rather rough and screen tear-y console footage I've seen:

Really hyped up about this game particularly after the disappointment of Dark Souls on the PC (and my subsequent pre-order cancellation). Looks like I won't be missing that game with this and Darksiders II out in the next couple of weeks.

OK, looks like it does as the v305.53 drivers I'm currently using contain a profile for the game with a SLI compatibility flag for DX1x only. Looks like it's good to go come release.

I know of barely anyone else on my forum who is even remotely excited for this due to the fact that it was dropped by Activision. Square Enix have had a full 12 months or more to really polish it up and I'm confident they will deliver something worthwhile, especially on PC.

Also the game got a 9 out of 10 review score in the latest Official PlayStation Magazine...

Funny thing is if activation had of published it I would not of bought it but SE have been publishing some damn fine pc games and I'm impressed with the effort thats been put into the pc version... also I got it for 17 pound

The HD pack is approximately 4.4GB. Its too big to be on the disc unfortunately so it will be an `optional` download for all users, so should appear like `free` dlc.. Its turned on and off in the ingame menus.

Was on the fence with this one, but I caved and pre-ordered. I'm a sucker for open-world games and pretty graphics. Hope it's as good as the advance buzz indicates.
