hhhh Technology is taking its step much faster. .

I think. . 3 Yrs max. . that the 5XXX series will be able to handle the heat. . Then. . not anymore. . Because the Increasing Demand Of resources of the up coming games are very high. .

we have to go for a change. .

My two 5870's are stil kicking and i'm not thinking of upgrading still yet. One of the cards is showing signs of beating now, but think i'll stick with them until they blow up or something

you still got a great card at thoses speeds, and not only that, you can play any game with X4 supersampling turned on and it will look better then nvidia's 16Xaa supersampling, I know cause I owned 5970,5870,5850,old ati and nvidia to current cards.

ati has significant better image quality when it comes to supersampling, oh yes.

So in return less gpu and vram hit, as oppose to on my card, I have to jack the settings WAY WAY up just to look good as an ati X4 AASS and the vram hit is incredible, way over 1gb vram and major gpu hit.

you still got a nice card. I would keep it as a backup if need be.

Nvidia iq is excellent if its cranked up to like 32xS [Combined: 2x2 SS + 8x MS] + 8X SparseGrid aa but it takes absolutely tremendous gpu hit and vram BIG TIME, at theses insane settings, it does look better then X16 Supersampling Bias.

Do not run theses settings with today games unless vram is at least 2gb and multi gpu setup, even with that it will run any cards to its royal good for nothing Knees.

Older games, no problem, todays games, forget it.

I tried tera online, and I back down to 8xSQ [Combined: 2x2 SS + 2x MS] +2/4 SparseGrid aa and the game doesnt even comes close to 30 fps and both gpus are @ 100%. Looks incredible at higher aa settings but fps moves to 1 fps, lol, not enough vram and gpu power.

So what do you guys think on the upcoming games can the 5xxx series still be enough to play new games this year?.

But yea i think 5xxx series will perform a bit worse in DX 11 and Tessellation but still i think it can still give 30 fps or more in upcoming games.
If you find it stating to struggle just chuck another one in for Crossfire that's what I did

I can play skyrim at 1920x1080 with everything on highest settings and it runs smooth as silk and with the 12.4's I just tried MLAA 2.0 and wow very nice

i got 2x 6850s that im not using, mostly because of BF3...they are getting me like 30-50fps(50%gpu usage on both) on high textures the rest on ultra(except mesh). And i got like 60-70 fps on 1 470gtx(90-98%gpu usage) whats up with that? crossfire/sli configs are starting to piss me off seriously....dont go there...

Yea, I know. I didn't have issues with SLI or CF. I just got tired of the noise and the heat from running two cards. Other then the spacing on my mobo not being far enough. So one card always was running hotter then the others.

The only problem i have with Xfire is the lack of support when i game comes out and being unable to record gameplay video with fraps or afterburner...

i decided to go for my secondary pc...from 2 5850's 1gb(900-1250) to 2 7850's 2gb (1050-1450)...i enjoyed every cent of my upgrade...difference is huge in specific games and it's also smoother to tell the truth...2 generations ahead
