I got Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for my PSV and Ratchet & Clank Trilogy HD for my PS3 yesterday.

MGS HD seems good so far but it really should have dropped the HD bit from the title as the PSV's resolution is only 960x544 (i.e. not HD!) and this game runs at the same resolution as the PS2 original according to Digital Foundry's analysis, albeit it is now 16:9 widescreen not 4:3. There's no anti-aliasing either though the game still looks good, thanks to wonderful art work.

Ratchet & Clank Trilogy on the PS3 is simply awesome though. I was unfortunate to have not played the originals on the PS2 except for magazine cover disc demos so my first R&C game was actually the first PS3 one which I loved. The quality of the HD conversion is superb IMO and the games look excellent due to the bright colours and cartoony visual style. After the disappointment of the Jak & Dakter and Devil May Cry collections - nothing wrong with them per se but the lack of AA and sub-HD rendering was a letdown - this is a return to form for the HD Classics IMO.

As I played R&C though, all I could think was how amazing it would be to have these games on my PSV as the gameplay is just perfect for the system. In fact, give me the God of War I/II/PSP HD, ICO/Shadows of the Colossus, Sly Trilogy, etc., collections and I don't think I'd need another console to play games on for a long, long time.

P.S. Downloaded the YouTube app for my PSV too and was surprised at how well it worked. Very impressed with that.

goddamn!!

First my LOTR: Tactics and yesterday KILLZONE: Liberations. i cant transfer these 2 games that i purchased via PS3 PSN, i cant transfer those games to my Vita. the screen on Vita says no content u know. and when i go to Vita purchase history i see those games but it says not available for Vita..****.

i read some forums that some people can transfer those purchases to their Vitas. The thing is those games r not available on Vita PSN, but they exist on PS3 PSN, but u can buy via PS3 PSN and transfer them to Vita.

But it looks like games r also REGION LOCKED!! lol man. i sold my PSP just the day before i got my Vita..lame. i got 2 psp games i cant play -_-

MGS2 plays exactly like MGS2 on the ps2, MGS3 is based on the updated MGS3:Subsistence, which had camera control similar to MGS4.

Seems a little pointless nowadays to buy new consoles on release, always just ends a disappointment.

Looking at you, my dusty 3 ds.

Well the 3DS has some nice titles out right now and a couple of new ones worth the play. (mind you i use mine for RPGs only). With Kingdom Hearts coming at the end of the month it will probably sell quite well.
