Default Should I upgrade from my 5770? - 01-14-2012, 01:31 | posts: 183

Im not in a desperate state of upgrading my 5770, it plays BF3 fine on ultra setting but it does lag me when theres smoke and other particles. I dont play bf3 on ultra, I put some settings on low.

If I were to upgrade what would be a suitable upgrade? Im on a 200ish dollar budget.

Thnx

Think you can shoot for this?

219$ with rebate.. More than twice as fast as your 5770.

Would it be worth it go get that one seeing how the next gens are around the corner and prices might drop? 239 is doable but pushing it.

Yeah, the "Wait or buy now" question always is a murky one. Fudzilla was saying on Dec 28 that the 78xx and 77xx would be out in Feb. I read that the 7870/7850 would be $299/199 but you never really know.

If you want to buy now I think that 6950 linked earlier is a pretty good way to go.

Newegg has the diamond 6950 2gb for 239.99 no rebate. I have two and they haven't caused me any problems.

Here's the link,

The powercolor is great recommendation but it's OOS.

anyways both cards are the same price, powercooler just has a 20$ rebate and a better cooler and not as noisy.

If thats gonna be the price range I might as well save a little more and wait and hope the price is what you say it is

I do not see the 6950 falling below the $200 dollar mark. I have always seen it like this if you wait you are going always play the waiting game because in the computer world there is always something just around the corner. The 6950 will be a good upgrade from were you are.

I've the same question as the pal above.

I wanted to upgrade to the HD7970 between the rising price and risking beeing out of stock, the prospects aren't as good as I wanted.

For up to US$ 550, would the HD7970 be the best upgrade?
