Cool Moving into top 10 soon w/FAH Tracker v2 & a Wal*Mart freezer - 11-24-2011, 06:54 | posts: 8 | Location: Cambodia

Anyone but me using FAH Tracker v2? It is one slick piece of programmery.

http://fahtracker.com/

However, I do notice it makes my folders run hotter than the Stanford clients, but I got coolers...liquid coolers

I am building a new Folding box from a SuperMicro 1U server dual Xeon with 4 Teslas which I am stashing inside a $200 freezer from Wal*Mart. Initial testing indicates full throttle SMP and 4 GPUs steady at 0 degrees C. The freezer is rated at -20C, but that ain't bad with such a load 24/7. Prepare to make room in the top ten, please.

Ver nice my man ... but freezer = condensation = not a good thing for expensive equipment ...

i am into the airconditioning business, and i tend to keep server rooms around 20 degrees c, cause other wise to much condensation, and freezing also means dehumidifying air, and then u get electrostatic problems, set the temp to aim for around 16 to 18 degrees, and c what happens.

just to inform u with what i know .

Wow, I've always wanted to get into folding, but never really got the dual GPU and multi-cpu all set up using one name and team. I just downloaded this FAH tracker, and it's incredible. Everything installed and configured really easily. I now have both GPUs and all cores @ 100% folding. Great link man - that link should be stickied.

the FAH tracker V2 is an all in one i.e all the client you need and in one.
the V7 client does the same but does not currently show the bouns point ppd and most new client will be V7 client only, V7 also does not currently work with FAH tracker V2 or Fahmon/HFM.net hope this helps

So, basically....this app is useless for me since it requires re-downloading all the clients that I already have installed and running, that Fahmon is currently monitoring?

I went to the site, clicked download, double clicked the .exe, then went to setup, clicked auto-configure GPU and clicked enable SMP. I then hit start. Was running everything within 90 second if clicking download.

Currently, it's showing a little more than 37k PPD. Is this normal for my system? Are there any commands I can input to get more? (not that points are a big deal to me). Also, should I enable HT? I don't like using it while gaming, but it wouldn't bother me if it would help out the cause.

37K is good. I'm only showing 23K, with HT enabled.

you should see gains with HT enabled

your 560 should be getting around 12-16 ppd each depending on clock speed and work unit

your 920 with HT should be getting 10-18 depending on clock speed and work unit

sykozis what clock speed are you running you gpu and cpu at?

CPU is at stock (2.93ghz), GPU is at 725mhz

I'm getting 10k ppd on GPU, 13k PPD on CPU

I get 15k on the CPU....if the GPU client isn't running.

Ok, got everything working with FAH Tracker V2. After a few minutes though, I had to switch back to running the clients independently and using Fahmon to monitor progress. For some reason, with FAH Tracker V2, my computer becomes completely unusable once folding clients are started. Doesn't matter if I start 1 or both clients, it immediately becomes completely unusable.

If you want to experiment, may I suggest that you try the F@H V7 Client (link)?

I haven't noticed any condensation at all since all CPUs and GPUs are running rull throttle and distributing heat with stock fans. In other words, there is never a lull when a phase change can occur and re-condense on the electronics even through I keep the freezer cranked to max -20. If it starts giving trouble, I will jump up the temps. I did remove the Tesla cards, as GTX 570s outperformed them. They did work well, but the heat was incredible, like 102 C at full load. Just didn't need all that memory since FAH is optimized for 512 MB. Using 3 570 GPUs in SLI and all my CPU cores, I am getting ahead rather nicely as you can see from the leader board. If someone doesn't stop me I will be in top ten by Day 01 2012.
