Id Software has confirmed that the highly anticipated DOOM 4 is in full production, as production for ids latest game, RAGE, wraps up. DOOM 4 was first announced in 2008 but has been notably absent from the QuakeCons of recent years. However, ID Software may finally reveal some details at next weeks QuakeCon.

The only details known at this time is that the game will be the best looking game id has ever made and will be a reboot of sorts. We will have to wait until next week, although I have a feeling that DOOM 4 wont be due for a release for some time. Stay tuned to GameBlurb for information from Quakecon 2011 and more.

QuakeCon 2011 begins next week, while ids latest release, RAGE is due out October 4th on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and is rated M for Mature.

"the best looking.."

Does this insinuate that Doom4 will feature insanely sexy looking shaped female monsters?

Quake 4 was meh. Didnt liked it.

But Doom 3? That thing scarred my adolescence. Gimme gimme!

The best thing is that it will have crazy texturing, shadowing and lighting methods that no one will see in another game lol

Anybody got any links of screenshots, trailers or ANYTHING that can get us even MOAR excited?

Something i loved about Doom3 were the shiny metallic textures and the atmosphere. But the static spawning of enemies was soooooOOOOOOooooo.... dull.

If the only 'new' thing about Doom4 is the 'best looking' part then i dont think i'll buy this. But let's see how Rage turns out.

Wouldnt mind drivable vehicles in Doom too btw, should be fun driving around on Mars or whereever.

I hope they make it a bit more down to earth this time, i hated the last areas in doom 3. Graphics wise, i don't doubt that it will blow our mind.

Doom + multiplayer coop play would get me to preorder it. If its singleplayer + DM only, then I will think about it. HL1 Svencoop, HL2 Synergy, Killing Floor, L4D1+2 and Land of the Dead coop spoiled me.

Well, id makes great corridor shooters and I just loved the art style of Doom 3.

So I am hoping for aniother nice corridor shooter and am pretty confident they can produce one.

I am not at all for any vehicles in this game what so ever.

Lets just stick to Dooms roots and put out another good doom game...to those who dont like a good corridor shooter, and abit of repetitiveness.....just pass on this one

If they are gonna stray away from what makes Doom....please call it something else and not use the Doom name....I really dont think that is gonna happen....I am confident they will get it right.

I want MORE outdoor stages as 95% of Doom 3 was inside, mainly narrow corridoors and labs...

It would be nice if it was simlar to half-life/half-life 2, having environments both inside as well as out...

And keeping it dark and gloomy should stay as it makes it scarier/more jumpy like Dead Space 1 & 2...

Any screenshots/videos, release dates, ANYTHING gurus?
