Need simple phone waterproof and rugged

Anyone have advice on which model phone I can purchase that is waterproof and can take alot of drops from 8-10 feet high ? Must have very good battery life also.

 

Well, depends what you mean by waterproof.. rain or diving?

 

In the UK they do these, can be had cheaper than in the pic (starting at £60).

at the moment ive got a motorola atrix.

http://www.goballisticcase.com/products/motorola-atrix-ballistic-hc-series-case was planning on getting one of these cases. the extra silicone is good for drop protection. it also has silicone plugs for all ports/sockets, as well as water resistant mesh for the speakers. so basically, while theyre not advertising it as waterproof (due to potential legal issues if 1 in 1000 people brick their device underwater), its the closest thing you'll get to having a waterproof smart phone.

steer clear of metal and plastic cases. the main thing that damages the internals of a phone are vibrations. plastic and metal amplify vibrations (metal amplifies vibrations over three fold). stick with silicone, it dampens vibrations.
