Best Windows 7/Android Phone/Large screen phone? -

Looking for something like the Dell Streak, between 4-5" but well made, not plastic like the Samsung Galaxy SII...
I currently have the HTC HD2, looking for something bigger, not the Samsung Galaxy tab as it's TOO BIG...

does it have to be a w7 phone? because the galaxy s2 is absolutely awesome! only because it has a thin plastic back it doesn't mean it's cheap.it feels really solid in your hand! it's well built. best phone out there atm.by far. why do you want to go w7 btw?

wp7 is different from anything(ios, android, symbian etc)
i think the bigger one is the HD7S at 4.3" there is also the samsung infuse(biggest phone ive seen ever) that is 4.5inch
if you want something bigger you need a tablet lol, the dell streak is in the middle but idk i just dont trust dell

Yeah, Galaxy SII is nice, but expensive! I was thinking of Windows 7 as it's completely different than any other os and something different for a change..
Not that I HAVE to buy a phone running Windows 7, was just thinking about it.
The following NEGATIVES however put me off buying one:
WP7-specific limitations
•No system-wide file manager
•No Bluetooth file transfers
•No USB mass storage mode
•Limited third-party apps availability
•No Flash (nor Silverlight) support in the browser
•Too dependent on Zune software for file management and syncing
•No video calls
•New ringtones available only through the Marketplace
•Music player lacks equalizer presets
•No multitasking
•No copy/paste
•No DivX/XviD video support (automatic transcoding provided by Zune software)
•No sign of free Bing maps Navigation so far
•No internet tethering support
•No handwriting recognition support
WTF, anymore???

I used to have the Dell streak, quite nice but slightly outdated now and poor performance compared with the competition.
I checked out Samsung infuse, brilliant phone, highly interested to buy one.
However, isn't the Samsung Fuse 4G for America ONLY?
If it is 4G only it will not work outside America, I hope there is a gsm edition.

Ahh, just checked, Samsung Fuse 4g is ONLY for the American market. The Galaxy SII is the equivalent/alternative...
How about a tab, preferably running android that has a 4-5'' screen MAX? The Galaxy tab is nice and cheap now, costing just Ł250 but is TOO big to fit in my pocket
Anything around 5'' in size, similar to the Galaxy tab, perhaps another tab?
The tab however MUST have phone/gsm capabilities, able to make and receive calls...

You do know that the HD2 is the same as HD7 specs wise. So all you need to do is flash a custom firmware on it if you are willing.

Ive done mine to dual boot between Android and WP7.

Perhaps. However, I have no owned a Nokia in many years since they seem to have problems, bugs and are underpowered.
I'm the type of person who changes his phone 2 or 3 times a year, I seem to get bored of seeing and using the same phone everyday.

OK so I deleted your negatives that nobody cares about and only left things that people would actually use.
Third-Party Apps - The platform is still very new. The marketplace is growing at a decent rate. It will never catch up to IOS anytime soon but do you really want 500 fart apps in WP7?
Flash and Silverlight - Flash is coming in a future update just like Android did. I'm pretty sure WP7 already supports Silverlight as that is what most of the apps are developed on.
Zune Software Syncing - IPhone is just as bad.
Video Calls - Alot of new phones are coming with a camera on the front and back. Developers will create apps for video calling just like IOS did.
Ringtones - Create your own! E-Mail them to yourself and save them to the phone.
Multitasking - Coming in next update
Copy/Paste - Yes it does. A recent update added this feature.
Bing Navigation - If it doesn't already have this feature it is definitley coming. This was one of their features to fight Google Maps on Android.
Handwriting Recognition - Really?

hmmm, so is it worth a try moving to Windows 7? How is the user interface, menu, smoothness, any lag?
I was just looking at the HTC HD7S which is soon to be released. Why do no Windows 7 phones come with a dual core processor?
And they still did not increase the battery, it's just 1230 mAh, it's not gonna be that great.
Would of been nice if they increased the capacity of the battery to at least 1500mah...
Or, if I'm not mistaken, would it be possible to buy a LARGER capacity battery, say for the HTC sensation (which is 1520mah) and use it in the HTC HD7s?

I can't tell you if its worth it or not because I have not done it myself yet. My current contract with my Droid 1 is up next month and I'm debating on waiting for the Droid 3 or going with a WP7. I really like Android, but I also like the WP7 interface.
Plus it connects with Xbox Live so I can play games at work and earn achievements.
Also, the rumors say that the coming Nokia phones will use Dual Core processors.

Nokia is going to use dual core SE based cpus, but it'll be awhile for Nokia wp7 devices to come out. If you're gonna go with WP7, HTC handsets are pretty nice. If not, well I'm not a huge fan of Motorola but if you stay with Verizon there's the Droid x2 with Tegra II dual core inside of it.

When it was released, MS was not done with it yet, so few things which are coming:
It will have flash when Adobe gets it ready.
Silverlight, Mango will fix it, also IE9 mobile and HTML5.
I think it has some kind of multilasking but, third party multitasking comes with Mango.
Copy-Paste has been in HTC phones (and others too I think) for long time, but officially it also comes with Mango.
More apps are coming all the time, but it's a long way to same levels as Android and IPhone.
So, Mango will add the remaining features which it needs, yes it's nto ready atm, but hey, I would still HTC 7 Pro over Android or iPhone stuff. Only thing preventing me from buying one is the lack of physical öäĺ buttons.

hmmm you want a huge phone/tablet, what you think about the Kyocera Echo? oh wait... its CDMA ¬¬ the only thing you can do is wait for nokia to release some dual core beast at the end of this year with WP7.5 aka "Mango"
you can trust nokia they will not release a phone without the functionality you need to be happy, like true multitasking and these stuff, and wp7 seems very smooth and shiny for the "third horse" as they call it

Get Samsung Galaxy II. I like WP7 too, but it's just too young right now, I would give it a year to mature and then maybe consider buying it. Android phones are getting a crazy update called icecream sandwich this coming september, which will pretty much overhaul the whole ui and make it something similar to honeycomb's ui(which I think looks amazing). Google is trying to put one same ui on every single android phone and try to push updates out at the same time to all the phones(to compete with apple?).

I have the Samsung Focus and i love it. Its missing a few things but the updates are taking care of that. The apps are good and some games are good as well. Its very fast it only takes me seconds to reply to a text message, Their is also live tiles keeps me inform on weather and what ever else i wanna know. I personally love it except that i cant put custom ringtones other then that its a great phone.

Another important thing guys, and this is so true. EVERY new phone that has come out in the last 1-2 years all lack the same problem....That is not loud enough, $hit speakers...
The last phone I had that was incredibly loud and clear was the HTC HD2... It was 2-3 times as loud as my current HTC Desire HD...
I also used to have the well known Core Player running with the old HD2 that was running Windows mobile 6.5.
Now, would core player work with windows 7?? If not then I will no consider getting a Windows mobile 7 phone unless it runs core player.
Core player in my opinion is the BEST video/audio player i've ever used on any mobile device.
It used to have an equalizer that actually worked, amplifier to boost the volume by a few hundred percent which made the phone speakers VERY loud, even louder than my current laptop, lol...
Back to the crappy sound on all the newest phones, I've looked as Samsung Galaxy SII, sound is just average or good, Sony Ericsson Arc, good, All the new htc's average, all the new lg's sound is ok.
Nothing new is any good since you cannot hear the phone in noisy environments which I'm in a lot of the time...
If you look at the review of the HTC HD2 on GSM arena, in the speaker section it's one of the ONLY phones that had very good and loud speakers.
the speakers were so good that even when amplified with coreplayer, they would not start to distort until very heavily boosted...
Unless I've missed something, is there ANYTHING out there that is VERY loud, soundwise, this is an important feature when showing movies to friends, youtube, etc...
With my HTC Desire HD, I'm running movies or youtube videos on FULL volume and can barely hear it, it really pisses me off.
What I would like to know is, are there ANY Windows Mobile 7 phones that have loud sound that I may of missed?
Most importantly can anyone confirm if Coreplayer works with Windows mobile 7?
Cheers...
