My channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Tup3x

Kinda testing out the YouTube at the moment.

First Crysis 2 level: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUqVs_Q0vL8&hd=1

F1 2010, Bahrain (wet race), from last place to first with Lotus in one lap (just proving that it's way too easy; with pad): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hap27d7RyuQ&hd=1

First trailer/tribute ever made by me (Mass Effect 2 stuff; virtualdub and audacity for the win): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnXLlg5ANQk&hd=1

I use FRAPS lossless mode for recording @ 30 FPS, for encoding I use X264 with rather over kill settings and usually use target quality of 19,0. For audio I use NeroAAC encoder and variable bitrate quality 0,84. YouTube rapes the quality so it's better be good when uploading. F1 2010 clip had different settings since it was recorder with my old stuff, CPU wasn't able to keep up in 1080p in any mode.

Might eventually add more stuff.

No worries.

Put a new video up of some Fable III gameplay:

I have a question though, does anyone know why the video has uploaded with a black box?

I figured it out. The aspect ratio in WLMM had changed from 16:9 to 4:3. Just go into Project and change it. Doh wish I'd checked it earlier.

I use Sony Vegas Pro.
Another good one is Adobe Premier.

Both are very straight forward and easy to use, but you can do very advanced stuff with both as well!

I use fraps lossless mode @ 30 fps. For encoding I use the following settings:

x264 encoder: cabac=1 / ref=4 / deblock=1:-1:-1 / analyse=0x3:0x113 / me=tesa / subme=6 / psy=1 / psy_rd=1.00:0.00 / mixed_ref=1 / me_range=16 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=2 / 8x8dct=1 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / fast_pskip=1 / chroma_qp_offset=-2 / threads=12 / sliced_threads=0 / nr=0 / decimate=1 / interlaced=0 / bluray_compat=0 / constrained_intra=0 / bframes=3 / b_pyramid=0 / b_adapt=1 / b_bias=0 / direct=3 / weightb=1 / open_gop=0 / weightp=2 / keyint=250 / keyint_min=25 / scenecut=40 / intra_refresh=0 / rc_lookahead=30 / rc=crf / mbtree=0 / crf=19.0* / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=10 / qpmax=51 / qpstep=4 / vbv_maxrate=50000 / vbv_bufsize=40000 / crf_max=0.0 / nal_hrd=none / ip_ratio=1.40 / pb_ratio=1.30 / aq=2:1.00

*usually between 19 and 21. Overkill, I know, but at least it gives more than enough work for all 8 threads. And of course, the quality is awesome - before YouTube ruins it.

NeroAAC: -q 0.84

VirtualDub, AviSynth scripts and Audacity does the job for me. No fancy visual effect, though.

ive been messing around with that recorder since last night. what im trying to do is find an encoder that will shrink the size but still let me keep some quality. one of my files is like 800mb and its only a 2min 40sec clip.

Fraps gives me pretty decent frame rate even in lossless mode, with unlocked frame rate even F1 2010 is playable while recording.

The settings I posted have worked out for me.
It's the best quality/size ratio I've tried, 8bit to 32bit is barely noticeable, everything from 4500-5000 kbps up just increases the file size with barely noticeable quality increase, the x264 codec seems best from xvid/divx, vmw etc. (I've tested a few common ones).
1minute of 1080p@30 video with these settings is only around 35-40mb, which is really low in my opinion, and the quality is pretty awesome like you saw in my video. (Youtube conversions also lower the quality, the raw rendered video is slightly better)

Personally I use fraps to record, if possible I record demos or replays of my game play, this way I can play first, and record later, so there's not impact in gaming performance. If it's not possible, well I never really had any problems with fraps, I like it because it's lossless, the quality is just 1A.
