Default GTX 580 w/Windows 7 64: no driver settings - 04-21-2011, 19:35 | posts: 3 | Location: RI

I have the latest WHQL drivers and even after putting 27061 in the ForceDriverVersion area, I'm still not getting any driver settings, overclocking, hardware monitor, fan control, etc. This is what my Rivatuner screen looks like:

Anyone know what's up?

EDIT: A little background. I just built this rig and graphics-intensive games like Crysis/Metro 2033 are crashing a few minutes into play so I figured my temps were getting too hot. I tried Nvidia System Monitor but it immediately crashes on startup so I went for Rivatuner which also isn't working right. Is something wrong with my GPU/mobo then?

Thanks, MSI AB worked perfectly.

Nvidia System Monitor works now (after a restart), but I'm still gonna keep using MSI AB anyway because it's sooooo much better.

Turns out the card was crashing because of not enough cooling. It's weird though......I thought Nvidia's more recent GPUs were able to go up to 80c+ without resetting. This one hits ~65c and decides to reset. If I keep my Xclio Windtunnel's huge fans on while gaming, it stays around 58c at full load and plays fine, but if they're off the GPU reaches about 65c and crashes a game/resets. Never seen a GPU reset at just 65c. My old GTX 280 would hit 75-80c and still play games fine.

have you overclocked your card??? A stock 580 should start throttling at about 100c i think, so if its cutting out at 65, there is something wrong.

If you have OC'd it, then my guess is that its not 100% stable

nah, straight out of the box

I think I'm going to get a different 580, probably the EVGA with a full shroud and only two-slot (I didn't really like this 3-slot anyway because I don't have enough room in my case/mobo to SLI it). I'll just RMA this one and take a refund.
