Yeah, the sound track is close to being release.
But, the team behind the mod have always said the actual mod will release two weeks after the sound track is released.

By the time it comes close to being finished, it will look so outdated that they'll have to go back and redo the textures and effects... actually I dare say that has probably already happened!

Personally, I think the mod looks great. From what's been shown it looks to be on par with Episode Two to Portal 2. And both those games look great.
And for a non-funded, made in their spare time project... it looks awesome.
If they had a publisher backing them and all the time in the world to work on it, yeah I'd expect visuals on a competitive level with modern releases.
But... it's a mod. A fan made project. And what they've done with re-imagining Half-Life... looks great.
I can't wait to play it.

Absolutely.
People tend to forget that this is not a commercial release.
The guys behind this pour in their hearts, free time and even money.

Firstly, you say that like it would be a bad thing....
And on top of that, Valve would have to actually acknowledge the Half-Life series and make an official statement on the series.
Which they seem determined not to do.

Do people forget that Gamestop had listings for Duke Nukem Forever for years....
Until Valve announce it, there's no point in believing any sites listing.

Hey! I'm entering 0.693 and it still says that the answer is wrong!
log(2-sqr(arctan(x)*sin(1/x)))
Copy it into the grapher http://rechneronline.de/function-graphs/ And see what values the function have when X -> 0 with the graph and the "function-value" tool below

If that's what it takes... I'll gladly wait.
I'm glad that they are not sacrificing their standards of quality just to try and "rush" it out to make people happy.
Better to annoy people, and take your time and release the best product you can. Instead of giving into people complaining about it... and release a so/so game.
