I've just bought a 6870 after 3 years of using nvidia. I'm completely out of touch of what the settings do and how to make profiles in ATI like nvidia forceware. Could someone please point me in the right direction please ?

http://radeonpro.info for profiles in the sense of detecting exe names & setting gfx settings based on the exe that is running (like nv)

the other settings inside CCC are the usual, & anything you dont know by name (like MLAA) you can just google

I made a thread about MLAA, its performance impact etc, it looks a lot better then 2x Super Sample AA, but far better performance, even beats 12x MSAA and gets better performance

As for rest of your settings, you always want AF at x16, I find the performance impact is minimal, but looks far better

I always set max resolution to my max monitor res, and if I have to tone down settings I will tone down graphical settings in the game before I turn down monitor res, reason being is that turning down game settings to me looks far better then turning the game resolution down and everything getting extreamly blocky on screen, plus higher res makes you more precise for things like aiming etc in games

ya that's the way i do it too, also AA is the first to go before anything else

except in RFG & SH, AO has too much of a hit, AA i can leave on there
& the buggy crysis 2 demo i ended up lowering rez while staying at 'hardcore' settings, there was some weird vram limits being hit
