Default Looking to buy a Playstation 2 system - 08-05-2002, 02:52 | posts: n/a

Finally, I have found some good deal on the net for a PS2 system. But all of the damn model number confused me. I heard that model number SCPH-30001R is the best. Why ????, and is there any differences in different model numbers ?

I ask sony, and they told me that model SCPH-30001R and newer have built in DVD driver. So it wont take memory on your memory card when playing DVD. It take like around 2MB.

hmm if that PS2 is the US version (NTSC) then it shouldn't use the memory card in order to play DVD's..u might be buying a PAL PS2. You better check that out before u buy. And with the model numbers, the one with R is probably better because of it;s newer drivers.

Screw the PS3. It will cost $600+ and it's highly probable that it will be delayed until Q4 2006 or Q1 2007.

No. It's the fact they have seven god damn cores in the CPU in it! It's been under R&D for a long time, but it will have Blu-ray. Just a fact. Sony isn't gonna un-endorse it's own product.

But the 360vps3 debate is long old, stupid, and overused. I happen to be a sony fan, and have the patience to wait-even though Sony officially delayed it until november '06. Until then, I guess gamers will just have to get a life.

cheers.

Just play your PS2 for now (games are getting cheaper) and wait until the PS3 comes out...Sony has always been years ahead of the competition and will put out a winning game console that will have all the latest and greatest toys built-in

Yep. I'm not complaining about playing my PS2... SO many good games have come out in the last year, and the graphics continue to amaze for the obselete hardware that it runs.

I've had the belief that if something is useful to you it will NEVER become obsolete...
