Default encryption software - 01-07-2011, 14:41 | posts: 3 | Location: Dallas, GA

I am hoping that someone here can help me with this.

I was looking into data encryption, since I got a new laptop and I am afraid of losing it, or it getting stolen. I want encryption so that if that does happen they can’t get my data, or make it difficult so they will just simply reformat the drives – kind paranoid about that.

So I found this review in PC Mag about Zonealarm’s Datalock data encryption program:

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2371748,00.asp

The author wrote:

“It certainly does the job it was designed for, and its makers have considered just about every possible eventuality to ensure that you don't lock yourself out of the encrypted data.”

Well, I found a 60 day trial:

http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en...h/datalock.htm

It is always good to have a trial, but with data encryption, how do I ‘try it’?

PC Mag says it works, but is there something I can do to ‘test’ it myself?

How can I tell if it is really working?
