The log you posted in the last thread showed that taskhost.exe was holding up the shutdown. Can you check what auto runs with Windows on bootup, there may be a rogue app that is causing taskhost to stall. One of the best tools is autoruns from Sysinternals (Microsoft). http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Autoruns.html Theres a lot of info, look for things out of the ordinary or strange names. Disable anything you dont want to run on boot. Careful what you disable, you can kill Windows.
According to this book, it's a device driver error occurring when changing power state: http://books.google.ca/books?id=O_h...=onepage&q=DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE&f=false deltatux
Hi,never seen this one so first things i`d look at first are usb devices, unplug them all, reboot a few times, try reseting bios to defaults, does it happen when you shutdown and go in to standby mode, also does it happen in safemode
ok ill get this list to you guys very soon thank for info hmm, i dont quite understand this so ill read ur link and reply later the only usb deviced i have plugged in are xbox wireless controller, razor keyboard, wow mouse, also i have no oc at all on any device as i want to solve this issue first it hasent happened in safe mode yet on me but ive only booted to save more like 10times or so and on normal shutdown its like 40/50... i get this problem 40% of the time
i clicked the tab i thinkt o be of use int his app please let me know if its everything tab you needed to see, thank you nothing looks out of place here to me, edit: heres every tab
hmm so ur book says this, now keep in mind this happened to me on both my last builds, this one and my older one, the only part ive transfer from one pc to the other is a backup 40gb hdd + 850w psu this latest install same as the rest ive installed the latest clipset+raid+gpu+sound and all the latest of all the drivers i can find, weather they are signed or not i do not know
Can you disable standby modes on all the drives you have? Just have them always on. Also, do you have the latest firmware for the SSD drives? I suspect that rather old 40GB drive is not playing nice anymore.
ok, i will disable power modes on the hdds now... DONE..via power options i set it to high and manually set hdd auto off too "0" it was on 20min, i assume "0" is off and this is the best way to turn it off if not please say how is ive also set.. sleep after...never -> never allow hybird sleep... on -> off hibernate after never -> never allow wake timer on -> off as for ssd firmware i think its latest 1.25
i was reading this thread that this guy got ALOT of information from this Minidump.zip im going to do this and do any of you know how to read it for me http://www.techsupportforum.com/mic...0-solved-driver-power-state-failure-bsod.html HERE IS THE minidump + msinfo32 zip hope your all as good as this guy he knows alot from this one file http://rapidshare.com/files/441073282/Desktop.zip
ive doen that mate post above, ok i have slight problem, i set the 40gb not to turn off/ sleep but when i just went to access it i could hair it bootup and spin so im assuming "0" isnt the correct thing to use in power state post i posted above EDIT after rechecking the setting "0" means never so this is just weird, it saye never but i heard it spin up.. ill leave it and see what happens when i try again soon, unless i need to restart for it to activate, ill try that, brb people
everything you need to know here mate ps ive not heard it bootup after restart but the shutdown error still happened again
yes its spinning fine, i ment that after restarting the pc the hdd doesnt sleep now, it seems to stay on all the time so anyone figured out whats that minidump says
register here and post your dump file here in an attachment, these guys are experts in reading dump files http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/ you can also try using spinrite and test the drive for errors. I would install the os on another hardrive just to see if your drive is faulty or not,if it happens again then you know its not the drive....process of elimination takes time buts its the only way to be sure.
hi mate i used a samsung f1 750gb before and i thought that was the cause so i got my self 2x ocz vertex 2e which im running now.. the problem isnt caused by hdd's ive had it happen on three hhds setups and two complete different pcs.. could the psu be causing the issue as thats the only part ive used in all three setups
ok ive made a thread on this windows 7 forum hope they can help me soon thanks for the idea mate http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/135884-slow-shutdowns-then-bsod.html
