If there's one thing that's taken me completely by surprise it's actually the great performance both indoors and out. In fact I'd love to know just how they pulled it off when titles like Brink and Rage were completely screwed at launch. Skyrim already feels like Oblivion did after several patches, if not far better.

The constant area loading/pausing in Oblivion even after patches and tweaks drove me ****ing nuts. It's not even present here.

They sure as hell enjoy making you work hard to find the pathways in this game. I've actually given up on some quests for now simply because I'm buggered if I can navigate parts of the land to get to where my quest is at. Not really complaining though as I always found path finding in Oblivion far too straight forward and never much of a challenge. Skyrim's world is an entirely new and vastly more intricate ball game, I love it.

If I have one recent complaint it's going to be squarely aimed at Dragons. I've slayed two now and the second one I did completely on my own at level 7 with nothing but arrows. Every single time it landed it just sat there as I plugged arrows into it from a distance, with the odd breath of ice breath if I got too close. It was a simple case of plug arrows and magic heal. Rinse and repeat as I kept a low level bridge between us both. And neither I killed ended with the dramatic slow mo kill I was longing for as I laid in with my sword so they just kind of pathetically fell over and died. Didn't make me feel like a dragon slayer at all, more a dragon tipper. :|

They look majestic and scary in the air and when they first land but after that they seem a little too easy for my liking. Playing on adept which I didn't actually realise until I was a good few hours in.

Seems like most people are too busy screwing with the config to actually play the game. I never once messed with Oblivion or any mods for it, game was great after I patched it up out of the box. Seems to be a great graphics overhaul over Oblivion also. Wish I had the cash currently and I would get it hands down.

lol, Mufflore ^^

Alright people, I know a lot of you have been asking for this and the modding community has done it again!

Those of you looking to limit fps to any given number, note though that this uses a d3d9.dll so might interfere with other programmes, try it if you like.

and last, but hopefully not least, we have an early attemp at texture improvement.

I am not one to freak out if the as is game has some minor issues.

More power to the people that mod, but at some point will they actually play the game? It depends on if they get it running perfect, to which they never will.

I tried to earlier but some weird reason every X number of screenshots I take with MSI Afterburner v2.2.0 beta 8 using the numeric keypad's asterisk key causes the game to exit to the desktop and it did it just as I took a shot of the map! Very strange.

Anyway, it's just outside of the first large town you get to after leaving Riverwood. It's called Whiterun and the camp with tents is just to the left of the big stone entrance to the town. There are four Khajiits there as I said earlier, a trader and another specialising in Sneak training.

I was able to replicate the bug a few posts up, seems to be caused by transparency AA forced through the driver control panel.

There's a new tweak in town but it totally destroys your FPS lol

Less details
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...202506770.jpg/

More details
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...202100193.jpg/

ind skyrim.ini ( should be in my documents/my games /skyrim

add

[General]
sLanguage=ENGLISH
uGridsToLoad=11
uInterior Cell Buffer=32
uExterior Cell Buffer=204
iPreloadSizeLimit=262144000

and proof that SLI works, but not everywhere on every game loads. DX11 might fix those slowdowns I hope.

I tried fallout 3's & Oblivion profile. Abysmal performance. This one REALLY needs the new created profile for Skyrim.

Crossfire seems to be working for me using Afterburner OSD, testing with GPU-Z monitoring next. Using about72% of each card on average, usually the percentages were equal.

So this is the ultimate LOD tweak but it destroys fps. Well enjoy the endless details while it lasts... not worth using this tweak other than pure screenshot purpose. It's impossible to get more details unfortunately without HUGE cost.

Nice shot. That would look even better with bTreesReceiveShadows=1.

I don't use a HUD in normal play Just disabled crosshair (really not needed at all) and compass (more realism). Am definitely going to get into some screenshotting at some point... gotta figure out a good cfg for that... which leads me to

Could you post your .ini settings for this please?

Also, has anyone figured out why tree distance LOD doesn't seem to increase even if you increase the values of

fTreesMidLODSwitchDist
fMeshLODLevel2FadeTreeDistance
fMeshLODLevel1FadeTreeDistance

Am I missing something?

Grass distance also seems to be limited, no matter what values you set for grass fade distance.

Can you check to see how much video memory it is using when LOD is unlimited? Wondering if it's maxing out the 1.2GB on your GTX470.

you are 1000% correct, the stuttering/pausing when you ran fast into new areas and new landscape was streamed in Oblivion was my #1 gripe, drove me insane, and I'm sooo impressed with Skyrim because they FINALLY fixed it!!!!

Fallout 3 also suffered from it majorly , and fallout new vegas did to a lesser amount.

thank god they finally figured out how to eliminate that damn hitching.

How is pop-in though?

I mean can you see vegetation, trees, ect, and stuff pop out of no where? I really hated that in Crysis & Oblivion. Kills immersion.

I noticed, so next time i see them i won't look for this bug.
If its patchable it will be patched.
If its your system it won't.

Concentrate on the game , not the bugs.
Enjoy it for what it is, and if it bothers you that much report it on beths official bug list.
