MSI Afterburner gives me bad performance in games. -

For an example, if I have MSI afterburner running and want to play Dirt2, i get these microstutters all the time in the game, to such point that it sometimes interferes with the game results. But If i shutdown afterburner, the game runs perfect. Steady 60fps all the time without afterburner? Why is this so? Dirt 2 is not the only game, even Just cause 2 and several others have this behaviour with MSI afterburner? Please help, I need afterburner for my fan profiles.
Thx in advance.

Data polling that AB is doing is not free. Cut back on the items you are monitoring and/or the polling rate.

Refer to the context help. ANY option affecting system performance (hardware monitoring data polling period, software fan speed update period, OSD rendering options and so on) have detailed help on possible bottlenecks and performance impacts, expalin you how to diagnose such problems and even give you hints on using built-in performance profiler allwing you to see which settings you've configured yourself are slowing down your system. So unless you're blindly monkeyclicking the options inside the software without reading the help system, you'll never have an issue.

I wonder how people with twice the CPU I'm packing experience those stutterings I've yet to see except when overclocked by 20%... And I'm running datapolling+custom fan settings + OSD with no real trouble...

Because the stutters are not caused by the cpu or bad drivers or faulty hardware or even heat? It only is a problem when MSI afterburner runs, and not in all games, but still some important games I like and would love to have all the performance I can get? So im quite certain this is some kind of bug. It hasnt always been like this, afterburner worked great earlier?
Ps. Thx for all the tips guys..
PPs. And thx to unwinder, will do that. I would love if this is user error, coz then it can be fixed. So keeping my fingers x:Ed, I really need those fanprofiles, the rest I can live without?

Not sure if you got this (since you didnt mention how you configured your fan settings), but...
a straight line that updates with every temp degree will eat up CPU cycles vs a stepped line that just updates temp ranges. Also the update intervals may need to be increased.
ie..
not good or may affect performance:

Good, minimal effect on performance:

I have zero performance issues with Dirt2 and MSI-AB.

I've had this problem at multiple times.
My solution at the time was to use a different app or close the app.
I'm not sure of the actual cause as I was happy with the above fixes so didnt research it.
Perhaps a later gfx driver or later software version is what fixed it properly, or perhaps just it being re-installed sorted it out?
Its happened with Afterburner, CCC, Rivatuner and others, they all caused glitches in the framerate.
I dont get any issues at the moment
(I'm running one of TwLs driver builds, perhaps that helped)

I also had this problem, it was nice the function of adjusting the fan, but probably is the cause of this problem, frankly the first I tried to disable all monitors but it did not, I have tried to disable the fan control because was precisely the feature that interested me most in this program, I went back to use RivaTuner where i can adjust the fan from 'low-level system tweaks' in a less simple but this is not cause problems.
Many of you use this program to set the voltages, I had a 260 so I didn't need, I'm getting the suspicion that many users say they have stuttering problems with new nvidia are not consider to maybe their problem is due in this program.

Closed to avoid attracting new 1-post noobs. Those who don't understabnd that their problem is due to their own understanding level rather than due to this program know where the door is. Those who want to think and get the solution can read the first reply with hints.
