Release Notes:
Windows Security warning during driver installation
When prompted with: "Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software", choose "Install this driver software anyway".
OpenAL 2D benchmark in RightMark 3DSound crashes your system
Due to a driver bug, your system will crash if you run the OpenAL 2D benchmark using 63 buffers. No problem With 62 or fewer buffers. OpenAL 3D and OpenAL 3D + EAX benchmarks are not affected.
Details: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (0x000000D1) - ctoss2k.sys
System crashes when shutting down or restarting Windows if Encoder is enabled
Due to a driver bug, your system will crash if you try to shutdown or restart Windows with Encoder enabled.
Details: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (0x0000003B) - ha10kx2k.sys
There is no DirectSound hardware acceleration on Windows XP 64-bit (x64)
The Audigy driver does not support 64-bit addressing, disabling the DirectSound hardware acceleration and causing multichannel sound to be played only in the stereo channels (front left/right).
Workarounds:
- install the 32-bit (x86) version of Windows XP.
- limit to less than 4GB the amount of RAM available to Windows.
- enable the "Memory Hole" setting in the BIOS Setup, if your motherboard supports it.
Microphone issues on Windows 7/Vista 64-bit (x64) with 4GB of RAM or more
Audigy driver does not support 64-bit addressing, resulting in random issues with the Microphone (static, robotic or distorted voice, white noise).
Workarounds:
- install the 32-bit (x86) version of Windows
- limit the RAM available to Windows to less than 4GB
- enable Memore Hole in BIOS Setup, if your motherboard supports the setting
MediaSource DVD-Audio Player system requirements
- 32-bit edition of Windows 7 / Vista / XP
- any Audigy 2, Audigy 2 ZS or Audigy 4 card
Built-in Decoder on Windows 7 / Vista (requires Service Pack 1)
To use the built-in decoder, make sure it is enabled in Audio Console.
Select "SPDIF Out (Creative SB Audigy (WDM))" as the output device of your player and then configure the AC3/DTS filter to send the stream through SPDIF.
When you restart your computer, the Tone settings (Bass and Treble) are not applied.
Just readjust one of the controls one time per boot.
Advanced EQ and Special FX not available on Windows 7 / Vista
These presets don't work on Windows 7 / Vista.
There is no sound in games with OpenAL support on Windows XP
Disable Advanced EQ and Special FX selecting "No effect" before running the game or program.
Equalizer settings are lost
When you run a game with OpenAL support or using Creative ALchemy, the Equalizer settings are lost.
Just run Equalizer and the saved setting is loaded automatically.
Tone settings are reset when speaker configuration is changed
Bass and treble settings are reset when speaker configuration is changed.
DTS Encoder Switcher
The Encoder Switcher is now part of Audio Console.
A shortcut is created in the Programs -> Creative folder in Start Menu.
For additional info, read thoroughly the ReadMe.txt file included in the \EncSwitcher folder where you extracted the Support Pack.
On Windows 7/Vista, when using DTS Interactive encoder, you MUST use ANOTHER SPDIF Out device, otherwise the CTAudSvc (Creative Audio Service) won't work properly (high CPU usage).
Hardware CMSS Headphone
To use the hardware CMSS you need to select "Disable all enhancements" in the "Enhancements" tab on:
Playback Devices -> Speaker Properties
Now check the Speaker configuration in "Playback devices".
If it is Stereo, run Audio Console and change it to 4.1, 5.1 or 7.1 and only after that change it to Headphones.
This procedure ensures that CMSS(1) will work after a Windows restart, otherwise only CMSS2 will work.
MIDI Device Configuration Utility for Windows 7 / Vista
Use this utility to change the MIDI playback device for 32-bit and 64-bit applications.

Remove all apps, driver then remove the Creative folders in the Program Files (x86) and Program Files folders.
Under the 64-bit edition of Windows 7/Vista, you might want to try the Win7Vista_4GB_MicFix.reg registry patch that might fix the issues with the Microphone when there are 4GB of RAM or more memory installed. Simply double click the registry file and restart Windows. It is not guaranteed to work on every system.

SB Live! series Support Pack 2.0 (04/30/2010)
This software/driver pack is unofficial, not supported by Creative Labs.
Use it at your own risk.
Supports any model of the following Sound Blaster cards (based on Emu10kx DSP):
- Live! (4.1) - all models
- Live! 5.1 - all models
- PCI 512
Host-based Live! 24-bit card is not supported, click here for a compatible version.
Operating systems supported: 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows 7 / Vista SP1 & SP2 / XP SP3
Quote:
WARNING: The included driver supports up to 2Gb of RAM on Windows 7 / Vista
Applies to both 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows 7 / Vista.
In case more memory is installed, you will experience sound issues and your system will crash randomly.
32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows XP are not affected.
|
Included in the pack:
- Live! series driver 2.18.0017.7 for Windows 7 / Vista
- Live! series driver 2.09.0016.3 for Windows XP
- Audio Console 1.21.00 (Windows 7 / Vista only)
- SoundFont Bank Manager 3.21.02
- Surround Mixer 2.00.55 (Windows XP only)
What's new:
- Fixed distortion in 2/2.1 Speakers mode on Windows 7/Vista.
- EAX effects, Advanced EQ and Special FX now work on Windows 7/Vista in 2/2.1 Speakers mode.
- Workarounds for low volume on Windows 7/Vista (for 2/2.1 Speakers mode ONLY).
- Added Creative Software Synthesizer for Windows XP 32-bit and 64-bit.
- Fully working driver for Windows XP x64 with 4GB or more RAM installed (except for HW Synthesizer, must use the Software based).
Release Notes:
Do not disable nor remove this driver in the Normal mode of Windows 7/Vista
There is a bug in this driver that causes a stop error in CTOSS2K.SYS.
Just restart Windows in Safe mode before disabling or uninstalling the driver.
Ignore any Found New Hardware dialog on Windows XP
To ensure a proper installation of "Creative SoundFont Synthesizer", ignore this dialog. It will close automatically as soon as you click on the "Install this driver software anyway" button to install the driver.
Windows Security warning during driver installation
When prompted with: "Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software", choose "Install this driver software anyway".
Hardware Synthesizer doesn't work on Windows XP x64 with 4GB or more RAM
This occurs due to a memory addressing issue that cannot be fixed.
Simply use the "Creative SoundFont Synthesizer", that has the same functionality but uses software processing.
Creative Software Synthesizer is mute on Windows XP with more than 2GB of RAM
For both 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows XP, simply change the cache mode or change the maximum amount of memory for Soundfonts.
Fix for low volume on Windows 7/Vista (only for 2/2.1 Speakers or Headphones)
(*) If the current speaker configuration is 4.1 or 5.1 Speakers, first change it to 2/2.1 mode, then finally change it to Headphones, otherwise the effects won't work.
Facts about the methods:
- "Normalizer" gives the highest volume, but mutes MIDI.
- "Flat" gives an average volume increase, doesn't have any issues and you can tweak the EQ if you want to.
- Both methods use the Emu10k1 DSP's hardware engine, not relying on your CPU.
1) Creating an EQ preset named "Normalizer"
- Open "Creative EAX Settings".
- Select EQ and choose "(No effect)"
- Type in a new name "Normalizer" (or whatever you like)
- Select "Original sound" and set the amount to the minimum or "Infinity dB".
- Add a "Normalizer" effect by clicking the "Add..." button.
- Make sure the Normalizer amount is set to its maximum (0.0 dB).
- Click on the "Save environment" button.
2) Creating an EQ preset named "Flat"
- Open "Creative EAX Settings".
- Select EQ and choose "(No effect)"
- Type in a new name "Flat" (or whatever you like)
- Add a "Parametric Equalizer" effect by clicking the "Add..." button.
- Set the "Type" to "Creative Equalizer 4".
- Make sure the Parametric Equalizer amount is set to its maximum (0.0 dB).
- Click on the "Save environment" button.
Improving sound experience on Windows 7/Vista
When using the Directsound and Wave Out interfaces you may experience sound cutouts during heavy I/O operations.
OpenAL or WASAPI are the recommended interfaces as both do direct hardware access and are not affected by the issues previously referred.
Built-in Decoder and SPDIF Out on Windows 7/Vista
The built-in decoder is not supported. Use a third-party software.
SPDIF Out is not available on Windows 7/Vista.
EAX effects, Advanced EQ and Special FX on Windows 7/Vista
For applications supporting OpenAL, the effects work in any speaker configuration.
For applications supporting WaveOut or Directsound, the effects only work when the speaker configuration is 2/2.1 Speakers or Headphones (*).
(*) If the current speaker configuration is 4.1 or 5.1 Speakers, first change it to 2/2.1 mode, then finally change it to Headphones, otherwise the effects won't work.
There is echo when playing audio on Windows 7/Vista
Choose "EAX Games - Disable Effects" in the Special FX tab of Audio Console.
There is no sound on Windows 7/Vista in 4.1/5.1 Speakers mode
Disable Advanced EQ or Special FX selecting "No effects" in the EAX tab of Audio Console.
After changing speaker mode there is no sound on Windows 7/Vista
Mute and unmute the main volume control.
Mixer levels are reset when the speaker configuration is changed on Windows 7/Vista
The volume levels of playback and record devices are reset everytime the speaker configuration is changed. You need to readjust them manually.
Sound enhancements on Windows 7 / Vista
The following sound effects are available:
- Bass Management (Bass redirection and Bass Boost)
- Swap LFE/Center
- Environmental Effects
- Loudness Equalization
- Virtual Surround
- Equalizer (10 band)
- Room Correction
Windows MIDI Device Configuration Utility
Use this utility to change the MIDI playback device for 32-bit and 64-bit applications on Windows 7/Vista.

The 2GB RAM issue on Windows 7/Vista CANNOT BE FIXED, please don't ask for it.
Because this pack includes software I wrote myself, I DO NOT ALLOW the redistribution of any modified pack based on this one.
If you want to publicly release your own modified driver/package, DO IT on YOUR OWN, from SCRATCH, based on officially released Creative Labs software and drivers.
Thanks for your understanding.

thanks alot guys for making this thread and keeping it updated. It is quite a bear trying to find daniel's stuff. I'm hoping this newer package fixes my random BSOD's with the Creative driver from an older DK package. Anyways, thanks a million and helluva job on formatting.

Thank you all for putting this together! Anyone who downloads one of these ISOs, the least you can do is sign up on the forum and post a thank you. This saved me sooo much time from trial and error and searching for what should be posted on the SB website. So THANK YOU!
Installed PCI-e X-Fi Ti ISO on Win 7 64 bit. Just needed to uninstall the driver that windows found first. Excellent work.

I installed the pack for x-fi extreme gamer
I have sound, but I cant get to audio control panel as a window pops up saying device is not supported.....WTF
So I cant use CMSS....which is reason for installing these in the first place.
Funny thing is my soundcard is listed in device manager.
Looks like alot of people have problems with this.....I guess x-fi extreme gamer and window 7 is just fubar.

the only thing fubar is improper un-installation , I bet you installed Creative, then some Pax stuff and now Daniel K stuff.
edit:
i found my post..
i had a similar problem once, it wouldn't detect it if i opened console launcher- it said no creative device found..
the issue was mix with original creative, pax and daniel K..
i had to
1) uninstall everything (all creative stuff - in installer)
2) delete all creative folders (app data - local and roaming; common files; normal creative folders - check for all!!)
3)run sweeper 2.7.5
4)ccleaner - registry cleaner to remove any leftovers
5) run Win7 manager registry cleaner (for final touch)
5.1)ccleaner - registry cleaner again if win7 manager left some conflicts
5.2)reboot
6) install Daniel K UAA 1.5 again and i got it fixed.
but dont reboot do all these steeps from 1-5 in one go..

yea it happened to me 2 times in win xp and 1 time in win7 x64.. lol i mixed original creative - it didnt have this audio cp with daniel_K and later with pax..
btw, you dont have to go to safemode, first uninstall everything (driver, etc) with help of ccleaner uninstaller or windows uninstaller then search for all creative folders..but be sure to delete all creative folders in application data, common files (click on folder >tools> folder options> and show any hidden folders, win7 has this disabled by default, idk anymore i think i enabled it with tuneup)

And about Windows 7 manager you can DL 15day trial. Its important because it found around 400 deep registry conflicts with creative stuff at steep #2 deleted files, while tuneup2010 didn't..
Well if you dont want daniel_k Xfi uaa1.5 pack, you can try other like the one off SB X-Fi PCI Install Disc 1.0 or latest pax pack.. its good to use packs because they have all the important stuff like volume panel, Alchemy, etc..

I used my old Audigy 4 OEM with Deniel_K's "Audigy Support Pack" for Windows 7 x64. But I bought an X-Fi OEM card today (something like this ; it was cheap...).
This card was designed to be an UAA compatible product, and the "read me" of Daniel's last "X-Fi support Pack" says:
- all PCI models, except SB077X UAA OEM
Is it true for the later CD too? I am confused.
I found this:
SB X-Fi Series AuzenUAA Pack 1.5
But it is based on a relatively old BETA driver (not to mention that it was intended for the Prelude cards...).
So, some questions:
- Do I need UAA drivers or can I simply use the latest WDM drivers with this card?
- Are UAA drivers better? (I want to play OpenAL games, listen music throug ASIO and watch movies with a WASAPI excl. supported audio renderer.)
- Where can I download the latest unmolested softwares? (I mean, the configuration consoles. The Autoupdater doesn't work on Vista+)
I don't want any 'tweaks". I don't need any EQ presets (like Bass Boost ) or anything like that. (Yah, I mean PAX things...)
Is it safe to use the softwares from a PAX pack, uninstall the "tweaked" driver (By the way... Can they be properly uninstalled anyway?) and install the latest vanilla driver? Are the softwares "tweaked" too? (I guess they are...)
